Default FLASH damaged ?

Can anyone have an experience how MP4 player behaves if 1GB flash is damaged? I mean hardware damage.

The player is always in ADFU regime. When I send new full firmware it starts to upgrade but in the middle it stops and says
it can not write.

How can I verify if flash memory 1GB is working? Is there some software to test hardware of MP4?

thanx!!!
