Please help me identify this simple player
Hello everyone!
I got this MP3 player as a gift (gallery photo upload) and don't know anything about it. http://mympx.org/plugins/p17_image_g...ages/md_53.png http://mympx.org/plugins/p17_image_g...ages/md_54.png http://mympx.org/plugins/p17_image_g...ages/md_55.png My friend told me he got it cheaply in Hong Kong. It worked fine the first day, but now when I switch it on, it plays for a little bit and then fades out and can't be restarted without switching it off and on again. While it plays a green light is blinking, and then when it is fading out it is blinking faster and then no light :( Any help what player that is and how to fix that problem would be appreciated! Thanks! |
I have the same one. It uses a sinowealth chip and samsung memory. The reason it is fading is the thing needs charged. To properly charge it, turn it off, plug it into the USB port, and then flip the switch to on. The led should turn on afterwards. I went through a painstaking process today involving a voltmeter to test output. This model doesn't charge properly without following the process above. It is a fake shuffle model.
My daughter used it one time and after a charge, it would not play longer than 2 minutes. After following my charging process, it is working fine. If it was like ours, it came with no manual. Its like a $10 mp3 player off of ebay. If you wish to test, disassemble and put voltmetet leads on the tabs coming off the battery. With the USB plugged in you should read 3.5V. When I played and let it fade, the output dropped to <1V. Charging correctly did the trick. :) |
If interested, it uses the tft-236 CPU and the sh86263 board by sinowealth...make SURE you have a good USB cable

Thanks! I thought it might be the charging, but I guess I didn't try all possible ways to charge it. Following your procedure now. The light went on when I plugged it in.
As to the cable, I also observed this. Sometimes my notebook didn't recognize the player so I used this to sort out cheap cables :-) Will come back tomorrow to let you know how it worked out. |
Yes, you were right. It is playing just fine now. Not sure how long a charge will hold, but it seems enough for a run...
I got a little leaflet with it that says to push down play for 3 seconds to toggle Hold on and off. Alas, it doesn't seem work. It only switches on or off, but not "hold". (I was thinking that "hold" means it will keep playing undisturbed so accidentally touching forward or vol up will be blocked.) Thanks again! |
What about that button on the side of your player? What does that do?
I have older players which has a [M] or Menu button and if you press and hold that down for about 3 seconds, it puts the player in a 'locked' state so you can't accidentally pressing other buttons if it's in your pocket or something. |
