Arrow 16GB chipod (actions hs) memory issues

Hi guys, i have a Actions HS chipod mp4 player - 16gb (firmware v9.560)

i noticed corrupt files and ended up here.

here's the thing however.
windows reports 16gb
hw2testw reports 8.2gb
LLF tool wants to give me 3.7gb
the chip inside is a hynix 32gb NAND chip model H27UBG8T2A - TR
-the hynix datasheet confirming chip size

i was able to extract some of the firmware with s1fwx - enough to determine the version
no resources or anything came out however.
i tried s1res but it gets a 'semaphore timeout period' when trying to connect (my chipod comes up with "FW UPGRADE" on the screen but the software doesn't connect)
i tried s1clone to the same effect (it formatted but could not connect for firmware grab)
have uploaded some pics to the gallery too.

i want to know a couple of things:
-is the chip really 32gb and can i use it, or at least the 16 i was promised?
-how to force the LLF to format to 32gb and potentially unlock the entire chip
-wtf
