Default AMV Convert will not convert files, crashes

Hi there! Hoping someone could help me.

I've tried to convert some of my divX or xvid encoded videos into AMV with the AMV Convert tool. Didn't work. Tried mpg, and nope, didn't work either. Basically the program crashes, I get the typical WinXP "the program has found a fatal error and needs to shut down" or something like that.

I've read that people can convert full films and stuff to AMV, am I doing something wrong? I've got all the codecs installed.

Kosh,

It has been known that installs don't work 100% at first time.... Just some questions for you:

1. What version of the convert tool are you trying to install?
2. Confirm you're using WinXP right?

Try:
3. UNinstalling the Convert Tool and reinstalling it again.
4. If that doesn't work, try UNinstalling it again. Create a NEW user account with full admin rights in XP. Log on as the new user account, then install the Convert under the new user. Check the option to make it available for everyone. Now log in as your normal account and see if converting works.

Try those and let me know what happens.

Try installing a codec pack instead.
Also make sure you have Windows Media Player 9 or higher as well as DirectX 9.0 or higher installed for the AMV Convert Tool to work properly.

Try that and let us know of the result.
