Is there a way to update AMV support on a MTV player?
Hello guys,
I just bought an cheap, but good MP4 Player at ebay. It has only 512MB disk space, but the player supported MTV videos. So the disk space is very rarely. Is there a way to modify the firmware of the player to get amv support? My second MP4 player supports AMV and has 1GB space, but the player sounds bader then the other one and the 1,5" display is to slow to show fast scenes (it's an normal TFT instead of an OLED dsiplay, which it should have :( ). Can anyone help me? PS: Sorry for my bad English, but I don't write often it. |

Ultrazauberer,
MTV simply means that video file is not compressed, which= great quality, but huge file size, so only short clips can be stored. AMV is a high compression format, (smaller files) OK quality = more files in same space. Most players that support Mtv, also support AMV compression, so try converting a file w/ amvtools and see if it plays on your box. If so, then your player supports AMV. Then just play w/ settings until you find the right size for your screen... " People..... please post your results / successes' or none of us will learn anything ". Iridium |

Ultrazauberer,
What type of player do you have? Is it a 1.2" player? In the [Main Menu] of your player, does it have an item called "video" or "movies"? I have a 1.2" screen player that supports BOTH .MTV and .AMV. The trick is, you can only player .MTV from the "Music" menu and .AMV files from the "Movies" menu. I will be uploading the firmware for this player on the website soon. But that's not to suggest you try to use my firmware as it might cause you more problems and a 'dead' player if you use the wrong firmware for your player. |
