[solved]AMV Resolution And Modes
 

I dont seem to find any information on what i'm looking for. So, I decided to post it. However, if there are such threads that exists, then please show me the link... And im sorry for posting it again.

Questions:

When using the AMV converting tools, what does the resolution do? 160x128, etc. etc.

What does the Mode do? 1,2,3 etc. etc.

At what resolution and mode is best for a 1.5 inch player? 1.2, 1.8?

I've been conveting for some times already, however, i have not change any of the default settings on the converter yet. (Due to my lack of understanding.) I dont want to screw around with it... it might lead to greater conflicts. If anybody can inform me about these settings, then i would greatly appreciate it.

In general:

128x128 pixels describes a square ( screen size) apprx. 1.5" diag.
160x128= describes apprx. a 1.8" diag. rectangular screen (160= length 128 = width )
128x96= 1.2" screen
and so on. Obviously a 1 x 1 pixel screen would be a square, but would be too small to see. Capiche?

so select settings accordingly.

These are the resolutions, in pixel length x width which define the size, and shape of your screen.
If you select the correct size for your screen, the resulting pic, or movie should fill the screen perfectly. Otherwise you will have probs such as pic is too small to fill screen, or borders around it, etc.

Iridium's explanation is good.
However, the 1.2" screen players should take videos at 96 x 64 resolution.
128x128 and 128x96 are both suitable for 1.5" screen players. It depends on how the manufacturer has set it. Some have borders preset on the top and bottom so you have to use the 128x96 instead of the 128x128.

Always encode your AMV files at HIGH "Frames per second" and "Image Quality". You will get less 'jumps' in your frames with those settings.

I always use "mode 2" for "Image Focus".

Actually, both of you saved me a great deal of time! I guess i dont have to test out every conversion mode and all. :)

The problem with the members of this site is that they NEVER post feedback on their success after given a suggestion by other members. This is really frustrating as I'm a newb as well on mp4players. I've really tried to help others with suggestions, and never hear if suggestions have helped. This harms other members that are new as well, and bogs down this incredible site that Binh has so kindly offered to us all. Once a question has been answered successfully, the questioner simply stops posting, and the rest rest of us are left wondering if the last answer worked.......

I don't know everything too so it's nice if people can share their experiences and knowledge. What comes around goes around I guess.

No one pays me to run this site, I do it out of my own interest. The only revenue is from Google Adsense and that pays for the hosting to keep the site running......

well as this has gone off topic a bit I want to relate to one of the original questions, what do the modes do? I heard mode 0 centers the image but mine is centered on mode 2?

the Focus is as follows

focus Mode0: video is stretched to fit screen.....the original is picture displayed on the "preview screen" durring video conversion.

focus Mode1: video is stretched to fit screen..... but the result picture is also displayed on the "preview screen" durring video conversion.

focus Mode2: video is formatted to fit the screen by cropping.....the original is picture displayed on the "preview screen" durring video conversion.

focus Mode3: video is formatted to fit the screen by cropping..... but the result picture is also displayed on the "preview screen" durring video conversion.

Edit:// the picture made in modes 2-3 from cropping is pretty much just centering the picture

I have a nearly identical "mp4" player as this

except mine's unbranded.
I have a problem converting videos to avi because I don't know its resolution. I had a sample video, an Ice Age 2 clip but I've erased it already.
The screen's dimensions are: 1.5" by 1.25".
Below the screen, where the pic displays MF-M568, Digital MP4 Player 945 is written.
My menu looks like the pic's but mine are arranged in 3 rows and 3 columns. please help me, anyone

Good thread. My question is more on the conversion software. Why is there no higher resolution than those stated above? My player has a 2" screen and even the highest res. only fills half the screen.

Get the latest version of MP3 Player Utilities (4.13 if i remember right), that supports 2' screens (but does not support 1.5' ones :lol:).

Well, i think i should write that conversion guide again... I'm going to my local electronics store to buy a few LEDs as one of the LEDs on my case fan got fried and i have to replace it. :P

Once i get back i'll re-write my conversion guide, complete with suggestive pictures. :)
