Echo in amv files?
Hi all,
I've also one of this Nano I-pod clones (latest FW) and transferred now few amv movies to it. I converted them in best possible quality with mp3 player utilities 4.0 and transferred them with windows explorer. A bit weird is that I've echo when the peoples in the movies are speaking but not on the pc when i play the converted originals? What could be the reason guys? I am speaking here about real movies; duration somewhere at 100 minutes, filesize approx. 300 MB. Dunno what to do now. cheers, Aziz |
Re: Echo in amv files?
This sounds like an artifact of high compression to amv format. 1st-- Install media player classic. Google it. Then install PocketDivXEncoder. This is step 1 in converting your avi, mpg etc. Choose settings that most closely approximate your mp4's resolution ie. 128x128, at 16 fps etc... select sound settings. link :

Re: Echo in amv files?
Hi Iridium,
sorry not to come back to this earlier, as i was in barcelona for 3 days without my pc connection. Now i am just trying it and will come back after few hours if that helped, seems some good workarounds. Let's see if the new converting with that way helps. br, aziz |
Re: Echo in amv files?
Files are approx. 20 MB smaller with this way of pre-converting. But still same issue, on the PC the files are working without issue once they are transferred to the Clone, they having echo/hoppers in the sound sequences.

Re: Echo in amv files?
aziz,
1st, Uninstall amvtool 4.00. Install v 3.68. Convert w/ 3.68. Make sure all video / audio codecs are up to date. Are you saying original file on pc, or when you play it in amvtool? When you play vid in PocketDivXEncoder, how does it sound? What sound settings did you use ? Give all details. |
Re: Echo in amv files?
Got the same problem here, but ONLY with wmv-files ...
[edit] correction : with ALL spoken in files ... |
Re: Echo in amv files?
Hi Iridium,
thanks so far! The videos are working on the pc totally normal either with AMV-tool player or the original avi format, just on the nano player they have this "hopplings". I tried it now with several files, but still same, on the vid encoder what you suggested i "reduced" them to 160x128 and sound settings i left as they were as i didn't know what to choose. Afterwards using this "optimized" file and converted it to amv with amv utilities. But nothing changes. btw: the sound sequences are only hoppling/echoing when the people talking, if there are normal music sound sequences sound is normal playing on the "nano". Any further ideas? |
Re: Echo in amv files?
I am not a big fan of returning to older software versions, but after kicking out 4.00 and installing 3.68 as suggested by forum members I have crystal clear sound ( music AND speech ) !
Might be helpful for others ... |
Re: Echo in amv files?
Aziz,
Did you uninstall ver. 4.00 and install ver. 3.68 yet? 4.00 is still very buggy. Make sure all codecs are up to date. Download codec pack in Downloads section. Post back if that works... I |
