A couple of issues :P

Howdy all, and my humble apologies for my first post providing nothing of use to anyone else ops:

First off, im using AMV Converter 3.68, though the same applied for 3.57, and all my converted .amvs have what looks like a skipped frame every second or so, a jump in the video so to speak. It's the same on both my PCs (and consequently the MPx player) and is a tad annoying. Was wondering whether this is a problem that can be rectified, or if it is merely the nature of .amv files.

Secondly, as my new MPx player (my old one had an untimely coming together with my arse) says it can use (what look from the demo one to be superior) .mpx files, i downloaded MPX2.02 for MPX MAKE, but the installer comes up with a generic 'Experienced error, Needs to close' message. Again this applies to both my PCs (one of which was completely clean and has nowat but new drivers, SP2 and a few games on it).

Can anyone shine any light on my problems?

scratch that last bit about MPX MAKE, I got a decent download of it lol.

Right, now ive got MPX MAKE installed, its telling me I need a serial. Im pretty sure asking for it isnt piracy as I didnt get a CD with the thing anyway Anyone got one going spare? Thanks.

I don't know anything about the .mpx file format sorry. Mainly it's .AMV or .MTV formats here.

When converting to .AMV files, make sure you set all the quality settings to "HIGH" instead.

Have a look at this Knowledge Base: How to: Convert to .AMV using the MP3 Player Utilities 3.68 here. If you don't have the settings on "HIGH", you will notice the "jumps" and skips.

Also, check the FRAME RATE of your video files. If it's 30fps or higher, you might experience problems. Try converting the frames per second to 25 fps or 29.97 fps instead....

I'll tell you what's happening there. The AMV convertor changes the frame rate of the original video from like 35Hz to 12Hz (thats the best mode). But the algorithm used picks up only the first 12 frames every second, rather than an equally distributed 12 out of the 35. That's why the jerk.

So what you could do is use some other video software to convert your videos to 12Hz first, and then run the output file through the amv converter. I personally use Open Video convertor for that, but that is not freeware. Other free ware tools are available, one called some pocket something. Look the other posts, you will find it.
