Default Problems with AMV / MTV Video convert tool

Hi!
I have installed both programs and haven't been able to use a single one properly. I tried creating a new account, installing again the software and all that, but it doesn't work.
With MTV, the error says: No this tipe CODEC, connect Source filter and AVI Splitter filter failed! / Please install codec for AVI
I have no idea what does it mean! I have also installed SLD codec pack, so I don't know what to do now.
With AMV , just doesn't seem to work. In the status column I just get Error.
So, I'm totally lost now

Thanks for your effort.

Hey Alexxx, I don't know much about the MTV convert tool but I got my way around the AMV tool.

Do you have windows media player 9 series or up and directx installed in your PC?

You mentioned the status bar...are you refering to the status bar on the amv convert software?

Also, what is the extension of the video you're trying to convert? (ex: mpeg, avi, etc.).

If the amv tool is running, then select the browse input file option...from the popup menu, click on the drop down file type menu. You should see a list of valid convertable file extensions...the amv tool will only accept these kind of video files or else it will show error on the status bar when you try to convert.

Alexxx, if the above information doesn't help, have a look at this post by admin in the knowledge base:

Let me know how it goes...

Some questions for you:

1. What type of files are you trying to convert? Certain files like .mov and .rm files need to be converted to .avi firstly before they can be converted to .AMV files.

2. Does your player take .AMV or .MTV?

3. So you've installed the SLD Codec Pack and still get the same problem?

4. If so, then try installing another codec pack instead as it might not cover your video file.

Hi again!
Well, I've tried to convert .avi and .mpeg files, and I get the same result.
My player take .amv files, but I thought the problem with the programs may be same.
I've tried before with Nimo pack. I tried after with SLD, whitch is the one I have installed now.
I have followed the steps of the post by admin, but it still doesn't work. When I install the program again it's the same as it was before: the highlighted icons that I don't use are still highlighted, but the one I execute isn't. I think it's as is I haven't deleted the temp files or something like that...

Anyway, in my older PC I've been able to use it properly, so thanks a lot for your help. If you have any ideas, it would be helpful, but I think I can make it like this. Thanks!

If you are talking about icons not being highlighted, then you will have to select the file from the bottom window then you can go into the [Settings] button. Hope that's what you are after.

If not, then send us a screenshot of what you're seeing (you can upload it with your post) and we'll be able to help more.
