Guest, It sounds as though you do not have the right codecs installed on your computer. Codecs are needed so that the software can decode\encode the avi files. Go here and download all the components you need to fix the problem.

Guest, as far as I know, adding a wav file with video conversion is optional.
Try tadad1's suggestions and see if you can get it to work. If you like, have a look at Alexxx's post, he's having a similar trouble. Hopefully his post can help you slightly: http://www.mympxplayer.com/viewtopic.php?t=411 |
Re: Converting the avi to amv
Also try this Knowledge Base - How to: Convert to .AMV using the MP3 Player Utilities 3.68 from here.
It will help you through the convert process and settings. Hope this helps. |
Thankyou
thank you very much for the info on codecs ect. Another question is can you convert mp4 to amv with amv 4.0?
|
Guest, the following video file types are able to be converted with all versions of AMV Converter Tool
.avi, .mpeg, .mpg, .dat, .wmv, .wma, .asf, .rm, .ram, .mvb, .rmvb, .mov, .qt, and .vob. provided that you have all the proper codecs installed for the software to decode and encode these files. |
Re: Converting the avi to amv
so it will not convert mp4 to amv? what should i use for that? Then why would they call it a MP4 Player??? Kinda confused
|
It would seem that the term MP4 has become a generic term for any audio/video file and not just a a file extension for video using the mpeg-4 compression algorithum.
I would suggest calling it an MP4 Player has better marketing value than calling it an AMV Player. If you find a video file type that does not convert with AMV Converter you may need additional codecs to do so, or you could try converting the file to a format that will work in the AMV Converter. |
could someone please give me the name of a free and easy mp4 to amv tool that i should use?
Thank you |
Guest, There is only one application for converting to AMV file format, AMV Converter Tool which you can get from the download section.
As outlined above AMV Converter is able to convert from these formats .avi, .mpeg, .mpg, .dat, .wmv, .wma, .asf, .rm, .ram, .mvb, .rmvb, .mov, .qt, and .vob. provided that you have all the proper codecs installed for the software to decode and encode these files. If the file you wish to convert to .amv is not one of these formats then you will need to convert it to one of these formats first. |
