I tried following this guide to the letter. I downloaded the converter, launched, started, stopped, edited file, opened video:

Yet when i upload it and try to play, i get the format error still. If anyone could advise it would be greatly appricated. THanks.

Dalenia, Do you have a codec pack installed on your PPPPC and did you select the "Use other codec" check box on the settings page?

tadad, I am in a similar situation as Delania. Followed the instructions, get a 160*120 12 FPS file which on the Pod fades out after 12 sec (always 12 sec!!). I do not however get any error message - the audio just fades out and the video stops. This is infuriating!
I have installed k-lite, so I don't think that's the problem.
As mentioned in another post, the only video that works is one that came with the unit (160*120 @16fps). It can be found here: http://rapidshare.com/files/9166575/original.amv
Actually it is a cute xmas video.
I have been wondering if my unit has not been hacked - the vendoe and disk utility say it's 2Gb, but I have heard of unit's hacked to report larger capacities than they actually have and this causes problems. How can I be sure without reformating?

Bought 2 ChinaPods MP4 for my daughters. They seem very happy after they got what they wanted. And I’m a proud father. Soon after we’re home and I begin to install the software. (Can say I myself a power user about computers). Use the AMV converter and viola!! I’ve done it; pass the player to my daughter when suddenly she said

"Papa, why the screen so small"

I did not know that this simple problem can cause me 3 days of agony and frustration. Every night I’ll spend about 3-5hrs soon after I reach home from work to correct this problem. I use all available video converter tools imtoo3gp, Plato even some of the software I can’t even pronounce, install, uninstall, codec pack, AMV converter tools from version 3.xx-4.05 computer hang and lastly I’ll even upgrade the firmware and the player go dead...even my comp can't detect the USB connection. "Damn it!!" if I had known I should just spend more money and get them an ipod or something.

Back to the shop and tell them what a lousy player they are selling(I know it was all my fault to upgrade the firmware without checking the version) luck was on my side I still keep the receipt as it only covered warranty for 1 mth only. (For a new 1 GB 1.8TFT screen less than 20USD is really cheap. usually I will just throw the receipt away)

Then I found this website; follow what TADAD1 simple instruction, to my surprise it works..... Thank you God, Thank you TADAD1 and thks to this website now I’m a very happy man and so are my daughter....

The End

(what I bought is an ipod clone mpx player a 1GB 1.8TFT for my 4yrs and a 2Gb 1.8TFT for my 10yrs old )

for my next PRJ. Can anyone help how to change interface and the upgrade frmware safely

The 160x120 AMV Converter came with my 1.8" player. You do not need to install it, just unpack it to a folder and run AmvTransform.
I have put it here to download:

ZIP Format
http://amd.streamload.com/laserjobs/AMV18.zip

RAR Format
http://amd.streamload.com/laserjobs/AMV18.rar

Yes VegasPlayer it was same as mine. it bundle with the amvtransform software which you don't even need to install, it was specifically for the 1.8" screen size, just copy the whole folder to my local drive and run it. But the result was still too small. I tried the whole image setup but the result was still the same

It was TADAD1 instruction that I'm able successfully get the full image for my player
