Turn Video clockwise

Hello everyone, thanks to you all, I could solve many problems of my mpx player (I have the 1,5' one with side speakers)

Now everything goes fine, but I was wondering if you can recommend me a good software so I could turn the video, and then when I convert it to AMV I could watch it in the player in a "landscape" version...

I was not sure if VirtualDub is able to do that... if someone can confirm that, maybe I can try searching in the multiple tools and options that program has :P
It was not clear for me if the other program (Divx Pocket something) is able to do that..

Could you help me on that?

Thanks in advance :)

bsaylors 15th Jun 2006 1:19 pm

Hey yeah Virtual Dub can do that. Open up virtual dub first of all and then drag and drop your video. Then go to Video--> Filters .. and click on add and then scroll down and click on ROTATE (not ROTATE2) and that will rotate your video, I would recommend resizing it in Virtual Dub too. Go to the Filters again and this time add "RESIZE" and change it to 128*128 and then convert it to amv. That works perfectly for me!

tadad1 15th Jun 2006 4:24 pm

Smeag, you can also rotate your video in the AMV converter by editing the amvTransform.ini in the AMV Converter Tool folder.
Here are the options:

BMPADJUST=0 - Normal
BMPADJUST=1 - Flip vertical
BMPADJUST=2 - Flip horizontal (mirror)
BMPADJUST=3 - Rotate 180 degrees
BMPADJUST=4 - Rotate 90 degrees clockwise
BMPADJUST=5 - Rotate 90 degrees counterclockwise

Thank you! I will try that :)

Re: Turn Video clockwise

tadad1, on my AmvTransform settings (which opens up in wordpad btw, i hope thats ok to edit), it has a bunch of writing and then it says:
BMPADJUST=0

Do you mean that if i change the number at the end (0), to 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 it would rotate the video after i convert?

Mo

tadad1 16th Jun 2006 10:32 pm

Mo DeLonge,
Wordpad or Notepad is fine. Whatever you set the BMPADJUST= setting to the output AMV will be rotated. As it is converting it will look normal but when you play it it will be flipped or rotated depending on what you set.

Arniki 23rd Jul 2006 5:37 am

hi tadad1 ,

I've tried changing the BMPADJUST=5 on ver 3.68. but it still cant works. Please help .
Thanks .

tadad1 23rd Jul 2006 7:32 am

Arniki, What size are you trying to convert to 128x128 or 160x120?

24th Jul 2006 2:00 pm

Re: Turn Video clockwise

I tried too to rotate my avi movie.
I set conversion by 128x96 either 128x128 but it doesn't work.
The other settngs works fine :(

tadad1 24th Jul 2006 5:06 pm

Arniki,
Download version 4.03 from the Download section. Edit the AmvTransform.ini so that CHIPTYPE=0 and BMPADJUST=4 or 5, (left or right), then save.
Open AMV Converter select the video you want to convert and load it into the converter. Double click on the file name or highlight it and press the settings button and open the settings window. Set the size you want and convert.

Re: Turn Video clockwise

dear tadad1,
per your instruction to rotate the movie clockwise (landscape) using AMVC 3.67 i opened amvtransform.ini file but strangely it doesn't contain BMPADJUST=x. My question is where this option should be at? under [OPTION] or other place? Thanks in advance.

tadad1 25th Jul 2006 2:34 am

bigmike88, If you mean 3.57 it does not support rotate. You need 4.00 for 160x120 or 4.03 for 128x128

bigmike88 25th Jul 2006 5:59 am

Re: Turn Video clockwise

tadad1, yes i meant 3.57. It's a bit overwhelming to see so many version with each own advantages :(
but If you could sum it up for me: I own a 1.8" TFT and would like to have 160x120 landscape picture to fully utilize its screen size and also with smooth motion, what version should I use and what kind of setting? Really appreciate your patience. thanks.

tadad1 25th Jul 2006 6:20 am

bigmike88, Here in lies the problem. If your 1.8 player does not support auto rotate (ie it flips the 160x120 amv landscape for full screen) then you only have one option and that is version 4.00.
When installed you need to edit the AmvTransform.in and set the following values
CHIPTYPE=1
BMPADJUST=4 (which will rotate 90' right) or 5 (which will rotate 90' left)
The only problem with this version is you can not adjust the framerate which is hardset to 16fps. Some players can not handle this and crash giving a "Format Error" warning.
If your player has a TFT screen then you may be ok as both my TFT players handle 16fps fine but the OLED and CSTN screens do not. I do not think they can refresh quick enough.
I suggest you try 4.00 with the settings I have noted above and let me know if your player can handle 16fps. If it can I will then run through some options for improving the clarity and motion of your AMV Conversions. If it can not I know of no other converter that will do 160x120 with rotation at a lower frame rate.
Fingers crossed bigmike

bigmike88 25th Jul 2006 7:10 am

Re: Turn Video clockwise

tadad1, sorry to say that ver 4.00 also no joy, when uploaded to the player the picture hangs after a few seconds into playing, have to turn it off and on again. What's my next option, firmware change? which one that supports automatic pic rotation? mine is 3.2.13 i think. It was dead before and thanks to you I managed to revive it :D so I'm not afraid to try anymore. I'll show u some picture of my opened player if you want :) it has a 3.7 v battery with 500 maH I think.

bigmike88 25th Jul 2006 7:53 am

Re: Turn Video clockwise

In ver 4.00, I also noticed that there's another .ini file at the location of AMV Converter folder which content is the following:

[TransformSetup]
Overwrite=TRUE
Insertwave=FALSE
Insertpic=TRUE
Transplay=TRUE
Trycode=TRUE
VFBS=medium
VWH=1
Imagequality=0
Imagezoom=2
[PlayerSetup]
repeat=TRUE
adjust=TRUE
bmpdir=0

which one could you change to have a better chance of success?

tadad1 25th Jul 2006 8:13 am

bigmike88, changing any of the settings in the settings.ini effects no changes to the conversion. Because most of these settings are locked in the converter they are redundant.

bigmike88 25th Jul 2006 8:26 am

Re: Turn Video clockwise

do u have any solutions for this, should i change the firmware? if not which player is proven to support this kind of automatic rotation as default? thanks

tadad1 25th Jul 2006 9:07 am

bigmike88, did the converted video not play?

bigmike88 25th Jul 2006 9:10 am

Re: Turn Video clockwise

it plays for about 2 seconds and freezes, the picture quality is amazing though :wink:

using the other option on this version gives a perfect smooth picture with no freezes (128x128), but of course it doesn't make use the fullest potential of the 1.8" screen.

tadad1 25th Jul 2006 9:21 am

bigmike88,
You could try changing firmware it has worked for others but you could also end up with a dead player.
What version is your firmware and what does you player look like?

The brand is Suntech ST909, it has 5 buttons on the left side for navigation and 3 buttons on the right for power on off and for volume + and -. USB plug is also on the right.
The firmware version says: ACTS16D_13 2005/06/01 and WS-3.2.13 2005/11/10

In case you're intersested here's the link to the manu site: http://www.mp3-suntech.com/english/p...i=MP3%20Player

tadad1 25th Jul 2006 9:51 am

bigmike88, I have a player no brand looks the same externally but silver.
Runs a totaly different firmware though.

Did yours come with firmware on the CD?

bigmike88 25th Jul 2006 9:56 am

Re: Turn Video clockwise

no it doesn't, the CD that came with the player only has MP3 Utilities 3.68 the same you found here. That player of yours above, does it do automatic rotate? If yes, could you pls lend me the dump.bin? :oops:

tadad1 25th Jul 2006 10:14 am

bigmike88, Yes it does auto rotate. It is already in the firmware section
http://www.mympxplayer.com/dload.php...le&file_id=251 these are full versions.
There is a dump here http://www.mympxplayer.com/dload.php...le&file_id=188. you will need to repair it first. to do this put it into the s1fwx folder and run the repair.bat

These are version 3.5.35 so I doubt compatibility. Be sure to backup your firmware if you are going to try. You can find s1fwx to do it in the Downloads>Tools section and a guide to using it in the Knowledge Base.

Sorry bigmike its 5:15am and I got to turn in for the night will catch you on the flip side.

bigmike88 25th Jul 2006 4:48 pm

Re: Turn Video clockwise

using full firmware of 3.5.35 is a success, but how to repair microbit's dump file? it always gives me invalid type of file usigns s1fwx r microbit from the command prompt.

tadad1 25th Jul 2006 5:27 pm

bigmike88, If the full firmware of mine is working then I would not worry about microbits dump as it is exactly the same. So with the firmware installed do you have auto rotate?

bigmike88 25th Jul 2006 7:56 pm

Re: Turn Video clockwise

no, the situation is this: already upgraded successfuly with full firmware as u mentioned above, after turning it on and off it is detected by the PC however the screen now shows nothing just a white screen. so it's like in your guide i have to find a repaired dump file to make it work again, right? repairing microbit's dump with s1fwx still gave me error. so i have to use my own dump.bin which i saved from before to make it work again.

nice to know someone who can guide me through all this, really appreciate your effor tadad1.

tadad1 25th Jul 2006 7:59 pm

bigmike88, Yeah go back to your original dump(hope you can), microbits is not going to help.

bigmike88, Can you upload your firmware to www.ezshare.de and leave me a link so I can look at it.

This is a firmware that I tried to manipulate for someone else wanting autorotate, never heard back if it worked or not but if you are in a flashing mood give it a try.

bigmike88 25th Jul 2006 10:10 pm

I AM in the adventurous mood right now! :lol: Have this MP4 player for 2 days and already flashed it maybe a dozen times...Tried your suggested test.bin but it says not the right firmware and can not continue.

Here's the repaired dump.bin from my player: http://rapidshare.de/files/27042227/dump.7z.html , I also wonder why other members' dumped firmware that's uploaded here is not in this *.bin or *.fw format?

bigmikey, I have extracted all the files from your firmware and replaced a couple of files relating to AMV with the same files from a firmware that has auto rotate then repacked it. Do not know if it will work but give it a try. You can download it HERE

Re: Turn Video clockwise

already tried the rotate.bin, every other functions are fine except when entering Movie menu the player just restart itself.

tadad1 26th Jul 2006 12:47 am

bigmike88, The only other option you have is try some other 1.8 firmware and see what happens but this could eventually kill your player. s1fwx actually reads your firmware as 3.5.35 so I think it is an upgraded version of 3.2.13 or contains parts of both versions. Anyway if you are feeling brave let me know how you are going. If you do kill your player follow the Dead Player Recovery Guide and use the Full version firmware you first tried and your backup seems to have worked for you.
