Problem Upon Conversion To AMV

Hello,

Let me start out by saying great site, fantastic resources glad someone was nice enough to start something like this.

Anyways, when I convert any type of video media to AMV, and put it on my player, the video turns out great, however the audio keeps skipping and sounds aweful.

Is there a fix for this? Maybe a firmware update?

By the way, my player is an IPOD Nano Style Player with the headphone jack at the side with firmware version ACI_V3.5.35

Please let me know if there is something special I need to do.

AGoldenberg, If you are using version 4.0 of the AMV conversion tool try using 3.68 as 4.0 is a little buggy.

A firmware update is not worth the risk of killing your player, and I doubt if it would help.

You may need to install the codec pack in the Downloads\Tools section if you have not installed one.

Let us know if any of this helps.

Cheers :)

Hey thanks for the info, can you give me a direct link to the version of converter I need. Also I dunno if I need the codec packs. It seems to convert everything ok. The video plays just the audio is choppy.

Anyways leave me a link and ill check it when I get home. I'm @ work right now and not really free to download/install stuff lol!

AGoldenberg, God employers can be unreasonable at times. :)

Here is the link:

Re codecs, you may just have a .dll or something that needs updating, I had a few problems initially and ended up installing the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack and have had no issues since.

Tell me about it eh? Can't even attach a USB drive since we deal with social security numbers sometimes.

Anyways thanks I'll check it out when I get home. I am hoping to contribute a theme or 2 once I get on it. Im a graphics designer so it should be easy....I hope

Welcome to the site.

Question, are all your converted videos have choppy sound? Or only some? If it's only some, then most likely it might be the codec that's not decoding them properly.

I also suggest try AMV Convert Tool 3.68 instead and see how that comes out.

If you can contribute your theme, that would be great! I'm a terrible graphic designer unfort :(.

Hope that helps.

Re: Problem Upon Conversion To AMV

It's on all videos. Every single one of them comes out with choppy audio. It's skips all the time the whole way through.

AGoldenberg

Doesn't sound good if it's on all audio then.
Try ver 3.68 of the Convert Tool instead and see if that makes a difference.....

Let us know.

Re: Problem Upon Conversion To AMV

Well, I have installed the codec pack and tried 3.68

3.68 has no UI it just shows me a blank screen, and I was unable to continue.

The audio is still choppy and pissing me off.

Someone help me get video working with a fix!

AGoldenberg, download some sample AMV files from the download section. If they are the same then the problem is with your player if not then it is a conversion problem on your PC.

Re: Problem Upon Conversion To AMV

Yeah the ones here when I convert them are fine. However anything longer than 5 minutes gets screwed up when it comes to audio.

tadad1 14th Jun 2006 7:24 pm

AGoldenberg, Are you saying the samples will only play for 5 minutes and then screw up. Or your conversions only play for 5 minutes?

admin 15th Jun 2006 12:56 am

AGoldenberg

So the sample AMV videos from this site works ok on your player without the choppy audio sound?

Re: Problem Upon Conversion To AMV

The sample audio files work fine and the videos as well.

I found out the problem. The problem is with my videos. The ripping software that most people use don't rip the audio portion properly.

I successfully loaded a couple podcasts and the audio is fine. Thanks for the help.

tadad1 15th Jun 2006 5:02 am

AGoldenberg, Good to hear. :)

Re: Problem Upon Conversion To AMV

Not really. I mean podcasts work fine, because the people taking the audio know what they are doing.

The vidoes I want to put on it are fine when I watch them on the PC, but when I covert em and stick em on my player, they skip.

The sound quality has to bear near perfect and even at that, the audio on the files that do not skip is so low you can barely hear it.

Re: Problem Upon Conversion To AMV

Hi

I am new to the site and need some help please.

I have recently bought a 1gb mp4 player. In an attempt to put some video files on it I followed the instructions on installing the amv converter, i made sure that media player was updated and that i had directx9 as stated.

I managed to convert the file i was trying to however when i downloaded to my player and tried to watch it i have great sound but no picture...

I have downloaded the sample videos and played them with no problems.

Any suggestions please?

Thanks
Angel

It sounds like a CODEC problem. The AMV Convert Tool might not have the necessary codecs to decode your video file. Try install the latest codec pack and see if that helps....?

admin 15th Jun 2006 1:10 pm

AGoldenberg,

Are you still having problems with the podcasts?
I don't know much about podcasts or what format it's encoded with. Perhaps the AMV Convert Tool can't decode those files properly? Hence producing the choppy sounds....?

AGoldenberg 15th Jun 2006 1:18 pm

Re: Problem Upon Conversion To AMV

The converter just sucks in general. Doesn't convert properly. The video and audio have to be of the BEST quality to get a crappy result for my player.

Hi

Not sure what has happened now but keep getting a DEP whenever i use windows explorer.

I knew i should have left well alone...lol

tadad1 15th Jun 2006 3:48 pm

AGoldenberg,
Whilst the process of converting to AMV could certainly be streamlined I have converted in excess of 100 video files of assorted format in the process of building up a library of AMV's and have had no problems with sound on a single one of them. Not that it is going to help pinpoint the problem, I think it must stem from your PC setup, by this I mean perhaps there is a program conflicting with the converter, a codec issue, I do not know but something within your operating system enviroment. If possible try converting the files on another system and see if the same problem occurs.

tadad1 15th Jun 2006 3:49 pm

angel, Sorry for my ignorance but what do you mean by "DEP".

Angel,

Can you create a new post for your problem please? This will make it easier to organise the posts.
