Default MPV Filesize?

Hello,

First of all, nice forum, very informative.

I recently bought an mp4 player for my gf and I wanted to stack it with stuff like family guy episodes. Turns out, if I use the app that came with the player, every episode turns out to be at least 200 mb. Is this normal? If so, is there any way to decrease the filesize?

I also can't find a brand of typenumber on the mp4 player, this sucks since I might want to update the firmware. Is it possible that this thing will play AMV after I flash it?

Why can't they just make them actually play mp4? (since they are called mp4 player) *frustrated*

Morgu, MPV's although better quality than AMV files do not use compression. I doubt if updating the firmware will help, but to find a possible firmware upgrade you will need to open the player and note the players Chipset, Memory and Board serial numbers to find one that is compatible with your player. A bad update could cause your player to stop working all together.
Don't forget to backup your firmware before attempting any changes.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Seems like I'm stuck with the huge files then

I know I need to be careful with flashing; I modded the hell out of my phone. But I'm not opening that thing up, especially since it's not my own.

I'm now resizing an episode with VirtualDub to 128x128, with mono sound and low fps, maybe that'll have results if I encode to MPV after that.
