Tip: Pocket DivX Encoder and WMV files
Have you ever tried to convert a Microsoft *.wmv file using Pocket DivX Encoder? It does not let you try.
Here's an easy trick to get it done anyway: rename myWMV.wmv *.mp4 Then use Pocket DivX Encoder to process the new fake MP4 file but in addition to setting the CODEC to VHQ also click the IVTC checkbox. In fact, I think I'll always leave the IVTC box checked since it does not increase the filesize and may sync a little better. |
Re: Tip: Pocket DivX Encoder and WMV files
After more testing, this method sometimes works and sometimes does not. AMV convertor often gives an error on Pocket DivX Encoder wmv-to-avi files.
I've had reasonable luck renaming .wmv files to .mp4 then instead of checking the IVTC in Pocket Divx Encoder, I try putting in 10fps. For final processing I set AMV Convertor fps to mid (10fps). For troublesome WMV files, I now just use Mencoder264, being certain to set the frames under "OPTIONS" at 8 (low), 10 (mid) or 12(high) for final processing via AMV Convertor. |
