ASF

Hey,

I got a new MP4 Player yesterday, and ive tried putting on videos which are in regular format (Winamp), and also in AMV format, which my other MP4 used. But neither of these worked. So i looked around the player and it said that the sample files that were on the player when i bought it were in ASF format. So i tried to download an ASF converter from the downloads section, but it said it was in .rar format (whatever this is), and so didnt work. Does anyone know how to get one that works? Or do you know where i can download a converter from? I really appreciate any help! Thanks!!

To 'unzip' a .RAR file, download and install 7-zip from here.

That should get you going.
Looks like you have a Sigmatel chip instead so that's why it only plays .ASF files intead of the .AMV files that Actions boards use.

Thanks for the link!!
Sigmatel? is that better or worse than the ones that play AMV? :?:

No real 'better' or 'worst'. Just different manufacturer.

The Action boards are more popular and there are more tools out there available which lets you 'customise' your player more than the Sigmatel tools.
