AMV 4.00 problems

I have just encoded the Lion king using the AMV 4.00 conversion tool which I downloaded from this site. I very pleased with the result in fact I’m amazed at the quality of the movie on this little player.

The encoded video plays back but with black lines at the top and bottom, can the video be encoded so that it players play back in wide screen.

Also the encoded video plays then it freezes and the player becomes inactive, to the point it has to be turned off before I can get back the player to function again. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

max2, Version 4.00 of the software is a bit buggy, I suggest you download version 3.68 which is stable.
Let me know what size screen your player has and I will give you some settings for full screen.

I agree, ver 4.00 is alittle buggy, best to try ver 3.68 instead.

You can try using PocketDivXEncoder to resize your video to the size you want. It's very easy to you. PocketDivXEncoder can be downloaded under the "Downloads" sectiion on this site as well. It's freeware and requires no installation :).

I saw in my 1.5 screen that setting it to Middle encoding in amv fixes my amv format error problems.. i guess its too many frames for the player at high.... although some do just fine at high... and im talking movies and such so who knows... Any Thoughts admin or tadad1??

BTW i do use 3.68

Just converted the Lion King with AMV 3.68 and AMV 4.00, and the quality of the converted movie using AMV 4.00 is much better.

AMV 3.68 picture quality is not as sharp it drags and the audio has sync problems, whereas AMV 4.00 playes smoother and the audio quality is like listening to surround sound.

The only fault with AMV 4.00 is it freezes is there anything I can do to overcome this problem?

Thanks tadad1 for your reply, In version 4.00 I have used 120X160 and in 3.68 128X128

max2,
The error is due to frame rates. Your players cpu crashes when trying to render full screen video at the High frame rate setting, it just isn't powerful enough. The problem being you can not adjust frame rate at 160x120 in version 4.0 as the settings are default.
If you edit the AmvTransform.ini in the AMV Conversion Tool folder (4.00) and edit CHIPTYPE=1 to CHIPTYPE=0 you will be able to get it to convert 128x128 and adjust the settings.

However if your screen is 1.8 and you want full screen 160x120 you will have to use Version 3.57 as it is the only version that you can adjust the frame rate at this resolution.

I have posted how I did this here http://www.mympxplayer.com/viewtopic.php?t=449
