Re: mp4 to amv

I'm assuming from title of your post that your PSP files are in mpeg-4format or similar ?

You will probably need to convert to avi first - you can use pocketdivxencoder for this. Then use amv converter to convert this "new" file - and ensure you have " try other codecs" ticked in settings - should work ok.

cheers...where do i get that program from??

for info these movies are converted so that they appears as m4v47134.mp4 or m4v47134.thm when opened in the iput file box....also also i only get these to load into the input file box when search under 'all afiles' if that makes sence. when i try and convert it errors straight away

Re: mp4 to amv

There is a downloads section on left hand side - you'll find pocketdivxencoder in there to download for free. I'm pretty sure you should be able to convert using this first, or just ensuring you have " try other codecs" enables in the amv convert program. There are instructions on how to use this in the knowledge base ( also see left hand side ).

You may also need to download SLD codec pack ( in case you have missing ones either ausio or video on your system) - its all a bit trial and error I'm afraid, but you will suss it all out, what works and what doesnt soon enough - this site really helped me out !

Cheers

Re: mp4 to amv

No, it should convert much faster than that. Think it defaults to avi file when I use it - then I convert the avi to AMV. The progress bar sometimes stays at 0% until it finishes converting - and then suddenly comes up with a completed message. Play around with it a bit and see what it does. There is a tpoic on the forums explaining how to use pocketdivxencoder, so do a search on that if you have problems. My files were only about 40MB originally, so the conversion process was always quick.

Hope you get it sorted ok :)

Cheers

TJ, What version of AMV converter have you installed. You should find it in Start Menu> All Programs> MP3 Player Utilities. Also what screen size is your player.

TJ 16th Jul 2006 7:10 pm

The version is 3.68 and my screen is 1.5

tadad1 16th Jul 2006 7:34 pm

TJ, So can you find MP3 Player Utilities 3.68 in the All Programs menu or C:\Program Files\MP3 Player Utilities 3.68 in Explorer?

TJ

What error are you getting?
Can you explain to me more what happens when you try to open the program and use it to convert? Error messages?

tj 17th Jul 2006 9:01 am

I'm not getting any error messages. I download the programs, try to run them or find an icon to run with, and nothing happens. Well, I tried to use the disk that came with it, and it'd like it doesn't have the encoder progam I need. The AVM converter program, it downloads and instals fine, but when I click the icon,it shows the hourglass for a second, but it just sends me through the installation process AGAIN! Then asks do I want to overwrite. But there is nothing to open the program up with so I can use it!

tadad1 17th Jul 2006 9:24 am

tj, so i can understand can you confirm the following.....
You are using XP?
You have Windows Media Player 10 installed?
You have installed the codec pack?
You have installed Mp3 Player Utilities 3.68?
AMV Converter will not run?
When you click the icon what icon are you refering to?
When you say there is nothing to open the program with, have you gone to the install folder and clicked on the AMV Converter?

TJ 17th Jul 2006 7:47 pm

Usually in a folder there is an icon to open a program with, and I did click on the converter and it just goes to the install menu again.

tadad1 17th Jul 2006 9:04 pm

TJ, I have no idea why this is happening, I suggest you uninstall the tools and then reinstall or try another version.
