Hi i have bought from ebay the 4GB black Ipod nano copy (MP4) from Hong Kong. I have converted a .AVI file thru the AMV Converter that's on the disc that come with player. BUT ! the film is now upside down and backside first. What can i do to correct this ?? Also when i play the film it's not full screen as there's a grey border with "AMV Player" around the screen. Again can i get rid of this ??? I'd appreciate any help u guys can give.
Many Thanx

What size screen does your player have?
What version of MP3 Player Utilities are you using?

Hi thanx for the reply. My MP3 utilities version is 3.68a as this was the one with a pic of my player(black nano copy with 1.5" screen)

And when i select the Firmware version on the player it reads

MP3 Player
SC85051C
2006/03/12
ACT_V3.5.35

again thanx and i hope this helps.

Fiddy_Pence,
Download version 4.03 from the Download section. Edit the AmvTransform.ini in the AMV Converter folder so that CHIPTYPE=0 and BMPADJUST= to one of the following

BMPADJUST=0 - Normal
BMPADJUST=1 - Flip vertical
BMPADJUST=2 - Flip horizontal (mirror)
BMPADJUST=3 - Rotate 180 degrees
BMPADJUST=4 - Rotate 90 degrees clockwise
BMPADJUST=5 - Rotate 90 degrees counterclockwise

Open AMV Converter select the video you want to convert and load it into the converter. Double click on the file name or highlight it and press the settings button and open the settings window. Set the size you want and convert.

I did exactly what u said but it says format error when i try to play it.

I changed the size to 128x128 is this correct or too big?

Do i need to change the firmware on my MP4 player to the new 4.03 or is it just for the software utilities upgrade on my PC ?

Thanx
Fiddy

tadad1 25th Jul 2006 9:31 am

Fiddy_Pence,
128x128 is ok for 1.5 LCD. you may need to drop the frame rate. Use these settings in the converter

128x128
Medium
High
Mode0

and see if it helps

I tried that and it still doesnt work mate.

I have read a few posts and i believe i have a 2GB mp4 (converted thru FAT32) and not a 4GB as it is stated on it.

I have tried to fill up the player and play all files but they are not there.
They are there when i connect MP4 to PC but in the folders are NO MUSIC files at all.
There's just folders inside each folder with a square icon and i CANNOT delete them at all and it looks as tho the space is taken up by these folders when checking how much disk space is left.

What i'm saying is could this be causing it to not work properly ??

Do u know how to delete these folders too ?

Thanx

It could be the cause of the problem. It sounds like a hacked chip but there is no telling what size it really is. The only way to clear the files is to format the player, doing so will generally remove the hack as well. You could format it with windows or there are a couple of tools for formatting in the Download>Tools section if windows will not format it. If you get a chance take the back off your player and note the memory chips (generally the largest on the board) serial and brand and we will find out what size it really is.
If you do not have a backup of your firmware I suggest you make one with s1fwx which is also in the tools section and there is a guide to using it in the Knowledge Base.

Unfortunatly it is 5am and I am turning in, will catch up tommorrow.

Sleep well dude :)

I have formatted the player but not b4 grabbing my firmware with S1fxw. my player still works ok and has all the features on it after format. all dodgy files are now gone thanx mate.

I have taken the back off and the biggest chip reads as follows :

Samsung 622
K9WAG08U1A
PCB0

FHE232A2
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Another problem to encounter now. Sorry

When i try to run the AMV utilities 3.68 it says i have a virus.
I have uninstalled the 4.03 version but it's still virused up.
Any idea's ??

I'll try to uninstall 3.68 and install it all again see if that works.

I appreciate the help u give out and it's nice to have guys like u about to help !!! as i get ZERO responce from the guy i bought it from on Ebay.

Keep up the good work :)

Hey Fiddy_Pence I have seen other people have problems with the AMV utilities in which they said they had a trojan horse. I would suggest getting a free PandaScan from:

http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/ActiveScan.htm
(Make sure to use IE)

and that will surely get rid of the virus and any others that lurk on your computer. Then you can try and re-install 3.68.

tadad1 25th Jul 2006 5:09 pm

Fiddy_Pence
Well your player is not a 4GB unless it has 2 memory chips but 2GB which is possibly the best outcome you could hope for with a fake 4GB some turn out to be 512 or 128 MB.

Just lately a few different Anti-Virus have started to pick up 3.68 as a trojan but I do not think it is as it is the same wherever you get it from. If you are having trouble uninstalling 3.68 open Regedit and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/INSTALLER/PRODUCTS One of the folders here will contain info on "MP3 Player Utilities 3.68" installer, delete it, then just delete the folder from Program Files or wherever you installed it.

Has the reformat helped your AMV playback?

Yes the format has helped. My vidoe's play the correct way up using 3.68 utilities as normal now. I just resize it to 128x128.

I will try and do what u said bout removing it.

It seems that when ever i try to open the Utilities prog my Anti virus(Avast Freeware) sees the virus- i delete it - then the prog will work but i have to leave the disk in the drive and i do this everytime i start it up.
Bit of a pain but hey it now works.

Ive opened a dispute with the guy on ebay as i dont like being ripped off. He has feedback from others stating 2GB Hacked player not 4GB.
A*seH*le he is :)

hi fiddy_pence.
i'm awaiting delivery on what-i-now-know will be a fake 4gb unit :x
can you tell me what you ended up with.. 2gb? 512mb?

if you're going through the ebay dispute process, are you sending the unit back?
thanks

tadad1 27th Jul 2006 9:53 am

Fiddy_Pence, Ditch 3.68 and use 4.03, when you install it don't forget to edit the AmvTransform.ini in the AMV Converter folder and set CHIPTYPE=0 which will unlock all the 1.5 screen options.

Hope you get some joy out of ebay. The problem is the traders just reopen a new account and start trading again.

Interestingly "altean" has done some digging into the atj2085 chip that 95% of these players run on and it will only support a maximum 2GB of flash memory.

I now know why i was getting the "format error!" sign when trying to play Video's.
When i installed the video's onto the MP4 player it took the storage space to OVER 2GB and thats why it wont play. If i delete enough of the other files from player BEFORE i install the video and with the video installed the storage space is still below 2GB it will play no problem. But anything over 2GB it wont play.

Note to the Guest who asked questions Bout MP4 player. !!!!

Yes mine is a 2GB. Defo.
I'm in the process of a Dispute in PayPal and the cheeky Bas*ard who sold it to me is saying i'm lying my ass off bout the player. BUT he has feedback from other buyers saying he's selling Hacked players. He aint got a leg to stand on Mate.
Should get something back from Paypal insurance if no joy from seller
