Default [Solved] 1.8" problems with video and can't instal 3.57

Hello I have just bought my chinapod.
Looks similar to this one: http://www.mympxplayer.com/album_sho...ull=&pic_id=80 but at the top it says: Digital MP3 player instead of /VMA/REC ....

Well I was already reading some of the posts and my problems seems to be similar like others all the movies I try to convert myself after few seconds just turn off themselves. There is also some 10px line on the left side of the screen with each movie played so I guess it is the problem of resolution.
I tried the ready made jesus.amv movie from this forum and it worked just fine only the position was wrong.

I used the 4.02 version I got on CD and installed 4.03 with the same bad result. I cannot install do not know why the version 3.57 because when only I press the setup icon my desktop stops responding and need to reset my PC the same with 3.68 My previous versions are uninstalled and I tried to install it several times but with the same result. Is there another way to convert movies into amv ? or should I wait for the correct version now?

Thanks in advance for any advice

kowal, First you need to uninstall all versions of your player. if your player is 1.8 you need to use 160x120 size setting for full screen. 4.02 and 4.03 although they have a setting for 160x120 they actually convert as 176x128 which is why they keep crashing they are to big.

Try installing 3.57 by using the English installer Msien.msi file instead of the Setup.exe and see if it installs.

there is a post on how to set up 3.57 HERE

Let me know how it goes.

Hei,

Thanks for advice. It works smoothly now. I do not know why I did not get the idea of installing version 3.57 that way by myself.

Regards

kowal, You can also improve the quality of your conversions by pre-processing them with VirtualDub to resize, crop etc. There is a post on using VirtualDub HERE or PocketDivxEncoder HERE Both programs are in the Downloads>Tools section.

Using AMV 3.57, is there any way to rotate the video?

I used this parameters on the same MP4 model showed, it finally stopped crashing, but it displays... how could I say it in English... well, It should turn but it doesnt...

I mean: In AMV 4.00, I could adjust BMPADJUST=5 to turn it anticlock wise, but since goes to the format error (due to what you explained); But, in 3.57 I can preciselly adjust the size but canīt turn it

Victor1980, this is a problem with 1.8 players that do not support auto rotate which flips the image for full screen when the AMV is played.
I have 9 versions of MP3 Player Utilities and none of them will give you the ability to rotate and lower the frame rate when converting at 160x120. You either get one or the other but never both.

At the moment the only way to solve the problem is to change firmware to a version that supports auto rotate but you could end up with a dead player trying to do this.

tadad1, by "framerate" you mean the 16fps/12fps or the 160x120?

The first one I got no problem in only having videos in high resolution, but if any converter could both rotate and turn it to 160x120 that would be grat.

Which firmware are you using? Iīve already "raised a dead player" once, if it dies again, I could use your magic again and owe you 2 BEERs this time My Mp4 is the exact same model showed in this topic: http://www.mympxplayer.com/album_showpage.php?pic_id=80

Even the MENU is the same! But I noticed that this guy
http://www.mympxplayer.com/album_showpage.php?pic_id=86
using the same model, upgraded the firmware to the same one you use here: http://www.mympxplayer.com/album_picm.php?pic_id=79

Which firmware is that?

Victor1980, Sorry I mean 16fps/12fps. As I say I have 9 versions of the converter installed (3.01,3.501,3.502,3.57,3.68,3.74,4.00,4.01,4.03) and none of them do both. The firmware you mentioned is "bliushift's" landscape rotated firmware 3.5.37 which is in the wrong section so I will get binh to move it from medium to large screen. You can download it HERE. If you have all the firmware you need to revive your player try it.

Perhaps I should open a specific topic to my problem, shouldnīt I?

Hereīs what Iīve already done:
I downloaded the firmware you mentioned, It came out with the name f8fb4b733d228da8e9ddc883ce56d168.bin;

. I made a backup of my former firmware, with the s1fwx, and after repairing the file, I got the dump.bin

I connected the player (tried it twice, first just connecting it, then selecting the "firmware upgrade" option on the setup menu). Running the MP3 Player Upgrade Tool which came with the MP3 Utilities Tools 4.00, it first detected my firmware:

3.1. Pressing the "Select new firmware" button, It read it very quickly and this screen was showed:
Click the image to open in full size.

3.2. By pressing the "Begin Upgrading", very quickly, in about 10s, this warning came:
Click the image to open in full size.

LUCKLY my player is still alive, went quickly into that black desktop with the time simbol and restarted.  :?
Any hints now?

Victor1980,
Even though the shell casing may look the same, different manufacturers use different chips and boards inside the players. So even though the photo you mentioned above looks like your player, it might have an updated firmware chip/board inside it.

The newest ACTIONS 2097 board has the newer 3.5.37 firmware. While the most common ACTIONS 2087 boards has the older 3.5.35 (or lower) firmware version.

If you try to upgrade your player with hte 3.5.37 ver, chances are it's not going to work as it wasn't designed for that type of chip/board version.

Hope that helps.
