.Mkv To .Avi converter

I need an Mkv to Avi Converter and I've been searching for days... but the only ones i've found are for sale... i need a decent freeware one... :S can some one help me?

They're both container formats and should be easy to convert but i havn't got the slightest idea as to doing it manually...

I'll dance for a converter Lol... Please help?

I had the same problem a while back i found a program called River Past Video Cleaner it is not a freeware program though.

First time I've hard of the .MV file format but it does look quite impressive.

I've found AVI-Mux GUI (downloadable from http://www.alexander-noe.com/video/amg/) which is a freeware software licenced under the terms of GPL.

I've opened it and it looks like it will let you output to .AVI.

Try that and let me know if it works or not.
I'm going to try downloading some samples and playing around with it.
