Default Allow real media (rm) files to convert to amv

Hi.

Firstly let me say thank you for all the advice you have given. I have only registered today but before that I went to this site all the time for help and the answers are always found on this site. It is an excellent forum and I would like to congratulate the admins and moderators for keeping it so great!

Anyway, back to the question.

I want to convert .rm files to .amv on the AMV convertor (I'm using version 4.03) and when I try to play them before doing the conversion it says: Error!

Now I actually managed to fix this problem yesterday but when I did a System Restore due to a problem on something else everything was lost and I don't remember how I fixed the problem!

So if any of you know the answer to this I would greatly appreciate it. I'm not sure if I need codecs, decoders, encoders, etc. but I know I definitely need something! (and if you can link me to where to get it I would appreciate it even more)

If you can also answer one more question it would be great. Is there a way to convert the Quicktime (.mov) files to amv? Once again I lost everything with the System Restore but when I did do it the video kept on fluttering and there was no sound.

Anyway, thank you again.

talladega , Glad you have found the forum useful . A good place to start to find a remedy for your problem is to install a descent codec pack on your PC. I use K-Lite Mega Codec pack which tends to cover most if not all of the standard video files. You can download it HERE . Let me know if it helps.

That was what caused me to do the System Restore!

When trying to install it the screen froze for almost an hour! My computer then acted very slowly.

I'll try again (although this time I'll create a System Restore point right now) but if there are any other things that can help I would very much like to hear them.

And thank you for your Superman-speed response!

Sorry, two questions:

Do I have to uninstall Quicktime? I purchased it and use Quicktime very frequently.

Also do I have to uninstall Real Media?

---------

Edited to add:

I installed K-Lite but it still doesn't work.

You can try the older codec pack "SLD Codec Pack 2.2" fromhere instead.

Not sure if that will fix it, but it's worth a go.

Let me know of the result.

I downloaded it before however I shall reinstall it again on my C:\ drive this time.

----

Okay, I have tried it and it is still unsuccessful. I did however go to the SLD Codec Selector and it said that I have the following codecs installed:

VP6
XViD
AC3 Filter
DivX
Morgan Stream Switcher DLL
Morgan Stream Switcher
MPGED2
AAC Parser
Core AAC
Core Vorbis

Matroska Splitter
DirectVobSub
MJPEG
MPC
OGG DS
MPEG-2 Splitter

Is there anything I am missing to allow .rm and .mov files to play on the AMV Convertor?

I looked at the Help guide and it stated:

6.1 If you want to convert Real player, QuickTime or MPEG2 files, please first install the corresponding decoder.

6.2 When you convert Real player, QuickTime or MPEG2 (DVD) format files, and your Windows Media player cannot play this file, then you need to install corresponding compatible decoder for Windows Media player, until the Media Player will play this file, otherwise the conversion software will not function.

I am now going to try and download the Satsuki decoder pack@

http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multime...der-Pack.shtml

and I shall be sure to let you know what happens.

Okay, I got the latest version here:

http://yatoshi.com/en/index.php?p=do...1f3d795284203e

and it let me play .rm files on the AMV converter!

I'm going to see if it works on my player now.

---

It also plays .mov files but without sound. Does anybody know how to fix this problem?

Thank you very much in advance and thank you again for your help.

Do you have the latest version of DirectX and Windows Media Player installed on your computer?

What operating system are you running as well by the way?

Look forward to the answers.

Yes, I have Windows Media Player 10 and Direct X 9.

I am running Windows XP.

Do you know what to do so that I can play .mov on the AMV convertor software with the sound?
