AVI files on rockchip player 2.0" TFT

everything is great except video, i have program to convert files to AVI [changin resolution] called AVConverter, when i try to convert file i hava an error i tried many other programs with no succes.
Also i dont have any sample AVI file in my player so i dont know the parameters of video file.
PLEASE :!: if someone got AVI file recognized in rockchip player post it here, or if you know the pgoram to convert avis

Wait a second, you have the trouble playing or converting?? If it's res change you need to do, it's easily doable with VirtualDub... framerate too...

WilsonPL, Your player may need a codec pack, try installing the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack HERE.

yeah i installed codec pack and i still got the same error "MENCODER.EXE", i tried convert with other programs but my player cant open these files.

tadaad can you upload some converted avi files [for rockchip]
Oh and btw you using AVConverter or other application to convert files.?

So the "AVConverter" program was what came on the cd with your player?

Your player doesn't look like an s1 MPx player, it seems like a PMP (portable media player) instead using a totally different chip set to what we are more used to here.

I'll see if I can find another .AVI converter.
I know some devices that player .AVI require some very SPECIFIC settings in the .AVI for it to display correctly.

MENCODER.EXE error is most likely you don't have the proper codec to process the files you want to convert using AVConverter that comes from that player.
There are 2 solution:
1. Downloag CCCP http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Combine...ity_Codec_Pack
Install it, then try the AVConverter again.

or

2. Download Xilisoft Video Converter 3.1
(http://www.xilisoft.com/) its a trial,
you can purchase or "God knows how" to make it full version.
and Use this settings to convert video:
Profile: XviD Movie (*.avi)
Zoom: Full (Keep aspect ratio)

Video : (Similar to High Compress settings in AVConverter)
Video Codec: Xvid
Video Size: 224x176 (It has to be 224 not 220)
BitRate: 200 (above 500 quality gain isn't noticeable)
Frame Rate: 20
Aspect: Auto
Same Quality: False

Audio : (Equal to High Compress settings in AVConverter)
Audio Codec: mp2 (MP3 won't work)
Bit Rate: 64 (96 is the high quality seetings in AVConverter)
Sample Rate: 44100
Channels: 2 (Stereo)
Disable Audio: False

With these settings you should get a file roughly the same size and compression that the AVConverter gave. The beauty about this Xilisoft software is that you can do batch encoding so converting multiple video for the PMP is a snap.
*The advantage of using AVConverter is that I found the Video converted using the AVConverter has better quality than the Xilisoft result (For the same file size and bit rate). So its up to you. :)

If anyone can recommend a better converter software, please post it. Cause I'm not etirely satisfied with Xilisoft quality.

I'm new on this forum and perhaps I can become a bit useful in this issue. I've experienced EXACTLY the same problem with a generic device named BOOLEE - straight form China...

For few weeks I was struggling with all possible converting software and penetrating web forums - with no result.

Endpoints:
1. Early this year a new codec was introduced in China and is used practicaly only in this region:
MEncoder Sherpya-MinGW-20060312-4.1.0.
2. It acts like an XviD 1.1 final, but it's not and delivers a lot of trouble.
3. Don't bother to search for a download, because there is no standalone version yet (Nov, 2006).
4. Also don't try to discuss the quality of this codec - the issue is propper shrinking and displaying on mentioned devices...
5. Meanwhile, forget also such good tools as VirtualDubMod, WisMencoder or (very modern modern open-source) - MediaCoder - including MEncoder settings.

All you need is the original AVConverter v 1.0 with the Sherpya codec inside:

TroubleMaker 2:
RESOLUTION. Analysed: 224 X 176 => this is false!
Encode using 220 X 176. If you analyse the output file (i.e. with GSPOT) - you will find out it's 224 X 176... :shock:


Although the name of such a device is "MP4 Player" - most of these simple players originating from China are based on the same chip and configuration which accept only AVI files, so don't use an iPod processing machine for a mp4 output. - It wont work! (of course - unless it is reccommended by the producer).

Try Total Video Converter v3.02. you may convert to any format that you wish. :lol:
