Wait a second, you have the trouble playing or converting?? If it's res change you need to do, it's easily doable with VirtualDub... framerate too...

Re: AVI files on rockchip player 2.0" TFT

WilsonPL, Your player may need a codec pack, try installing the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack HERE.

WilsonPL 19th Sep 2006 8:37 am

Re: AVI files on rockchip player 2.0" TFT

yeah i installed codec pack and i still got the same error "MENCODER.EXE", i tried convert with other programs but my player cant open these files.

tadaad can you upload some converted avi files [for rockchip]
Oh and btw you using AVConverter or other application to convert files.?

admin 19th Sep 2006 4:37 pm

WilsonPL,

So the "AVConverter" program was what came on the cd with your player?

Your player doesn't look like an s1 MPx player, it seems like a PMP (portable media player) instead using a totally different chip set to what we are more used to here.

I'll see if I can find another .AVI converter.
I know some devices that player .AVI require some very SPECIFIC settings in the .AVI for it to display correctly.

Re: AVI files on rockchip player 2.0" TFT

MENCODER.EXE error is most likely you don't have the proper codec to process the files you want to convert using AVConverter that comes from that player.
There are 2 solution:
1. Downloag CCCP http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Combine...ity_Codec_Pack
Install it, then try the AVConverter again.

or

2. Download Xilisoft Video Converter 3.1
(http://www.xilisoft.com/) its a trial,
you can purchase or "God knows how" to make it full version.
and Use this settings to convert video:
Profile: XviD Movie (*.avi)
Zoom: Full (Keep aspect ratio)

Video : (Similar to High Compress settings in AVConverter)
Video Codec: Xvid
Video Size: 224x176 (It has to be 224 not 220)
BitRate: 200 (above 500 quality gain isn't noticeable)
Frame Rate: 20
Aspect: Auto
Same Quality: False

Audio : (Equal to High Compress settings in AVConverter)
Audio Codec: mp2 (MP3 won't work)
Bit Rate: 64 (96 is the high quality seetings in AVConverter)
Sample Rate: 44100
Channels: 2 (Stereo)
Disable Audio: False

With these settings you should get a file roughly the same size and compression that the AVConverter gave. The beauty about this Xilisoft software is that you can do batch encoding so converting multiple video for the PMP is a snap.
*The advantage of using AVConverter is that I found the Video converted using the AVConverter has better quality than the Xilisoft result (For the same file size and bit rate). So its up to you. :)

If anyone can recommend a better converter software, please post it. Cause I'm not etirely satisfied with Xilisoft quality.

Re: AVI files on rockchip player 2.0" TFT

Hi There!
I'm new on this forum and perhaps I can become a bit useful in this issue. I've experienced EXACTLY the same problem with a generic device named BOOLEE - straight form China...
Checkout here: Boolee devices
For few weeks I was struggling with all possible converting software and penetrating web forums - with no result.

Endpoints:
1. Early this year a new codec was introduced in China and is used practicaly only in this region:
MEncoder Sherpya-MinGW-20060312-4.1.0.
2. It acts like an XviD 1.1 final, but it's not and delivers a lot of trouble.
3. Don't bother to search for a download, because there is no standalone version yet (Nov, 2006).
4. Also don't try to discuss the quality of this codec - the issue is propper shrinking and displaying on mentioned devices...
5. Meanwhile, forget also such good tools as VirtualDubMod, WisMencoder or (very modern modern open-source) - MediaCoder - including MEncoder settings.

All you need is the original AVConverter v 1.0 with the Sherpya codec inside:

http://images.1p2p3p.com/writing/ima...yrne131801.jpg

Features:

 No installation required
 Contains all other codecs & filters
 Conversion time: ca 5-10 min for a 1,5 hour movie
 Compression ratio: 2:1 (350 MB out of a 700 MB movie)
 Compatibility: I've checked it on WinXP and 2K => O.K.
 Volume - ca 30 MB (unpacked)
 GUI language: Chinese simpl.('till now) :( but very simple:

Usage:

 Input file name
 Output file name
 Click the button (lowest, left) to convert...

TroubleMaker 2:
RESOLUTION. Analysed: 224 X 176 => this is false!
Encode using 220 X 176. If you analyse the output file (i.e. with GSPOT) - you will find out it's 224 X 176...

Although the name of such a device is "MP4 Player" - most of these simple players originating from China are based on the same chip and configuration which accept only AVI files, so don't use an iPod processing machine for a mp4 output. - It wont work! (of course - unless it is reccommended by the producer).

Feel free to email me on details.

KINRU
P.S. Don't ask me for the AVConverter - try eMule or other sources - it's a freeware.

Hi all

this is my first post so hope it helps someone

after buying a new 2" PMP player after being used to my1.8" MP4 model I suddenly discovered that it was a rockchip machine and started to panic when I thought that I couldn't convert my videos

However those very kind people at Uxcell have a programme that works perfectly with my machine
it can be downloaded here AViConverter 2.0 software

I am now so happy with my player , the 3d sound is amazing and the ability to adjust the sensitivity of the recording microphone is a blessing at rock concerts

I'd highly recommend you taking a look at a rockchip player !!

RinMPX 29th Nov 2006 10:20 pm

Oh BAM..... You Rock dude... This is what I've been looking for. The same no frills BEST AVConverter but with Batch Encode feature.

Rockchip 30th Nov 2006 2:31 am

Re: AVI files on rockchip player 2.0" TFT

Just one thing to note

I have used DVD shrink to initially extract the Vob files to my hard disk before converting to AVI with this software but I realised last night that when you do this you need to only burn the audio track that want to be converted, do not burn multiple audio tracks.

there doesn't seem to be an option in this software to specify which audio track you want and it automatically selects a track for you in the AVI
When I didn't do this and just converted the Vobs, I ended up with the first Vob file with my english audio track, the second with the directors commentary, the third with Spanish and the fourth with German !!

Hi guys! Before anything, im Christian from Argentina!
I'd solved this issue with this mp4 player because i've the same one.

The solution is download an older version of "MENCODER.EXE" and paste into the program folder. Just try download an older version atMPlayer Web Page and it's work fine

C-ya!

hi there! i also have a rockchip-based mp4 player. it doesnt play .AMV files, only .AVI files encoded with xvid. I used the original AVConverter 1.0 that came with the player, as well as AVIConverter2.0 and 2.1 that came in this site. All programs were able to convert my videos and they all play on the player. I just noticed that if i convert .ASF or .WMV files, the sound is distorted on the player, whereas if i convert .MPG files, it plays perfectly on the player! any ideas?

i also have questions regarding ID3 tags. my player only recognized ID3v1, but it only displays the artist. ID3v2 doesnt work, it displays gibberish info. any ideas on how to make this work? i was able to make this work on a nano look-alike, and i was succesful with ID3v1, but with this rockchip-based mp4, i am stuck! hope someone can help me.

thanks in advance!

I need help. I have a RockChip mp4 player. I've used just about every avi converter out there and nothing seems to work. I converted a vob to the same properties as the sample avi file in the player and I keep getting "File Format Error" when I try to play the converted vob to avi file. Any suggestions? This is driving me nuts.

Re: AVI files on rockchip player 2.0" TFT

You have to get mencoder running. It should have xvid codec linked in so external codecs aren't the problem. Try downloading another version from the internet and overwrite the one in AVConverter dir (it has hidden and system flags set).
I'm converting my videos under linux using mencoder directly here is the script that i'm using
Code:

#!/bin/bash
mencoder "$1" -o "$2" -ofps 20 -vf-add scale=224:176 -vf-add expand=224:176:-1:-1:1 -srate 44100 -ovc xvid -xvidencopts bitrate=300:max_bframes=0:quant_type=h263 -oac lavc -lavcopts acodec=mp2:abitrate=64

Musisz jakoś uruchomic tego mencoder'a albo znaleść cos innnego :) najlepiej mencodera :D

Re: AVI files on rockchip player 2.0" TFT

Sorry if this is a double post, the screen went blank last time I hit the submit button.
I've been playing around with the AVI Converter software and created a new ini file that is optimized for PAL video. On my player (2.4", 224x176 resolution) it creates perfect videos now. Although the original software said 220X176, the encoded videos were 224x176. However, some players may really be 220x176, so it might need a bit of tweaking in this case. I'd be interested to hear how others get on with this. You can find the modified ini file in the downloads section called "RockchipPal".

I also tried this, but once you get the AVIConverter parameters right, it's much easier and produces better videos.

Re: AVI files on rockchip player 2.0" TFT

Just some feedback Grindathotte....

I have a Sumvision kpac 2G (224x176) and have been having endless audio sync problems with AVIConverter. (version 1 supplied with player)

Downloaded your Rockchippal and all my problems are over! Thanks for all the hard work!! (love the 'pan and scan' setting!)

Also tried AVI converter 3.0 (which didn't work before as all the settings were wrong) - Again no problems - and its a much better interface where you can queue up all the .vobs at once.

Just a minor comment. The default locations to load from and save to in your .ini file are H:\Archive and H:\mp4

If the pc doesn't have these (like mine) then AVI converter errors on the target directory and you can't browse for a new one. Its easy to fix by changing the locations in the .ini file - but may be easier if you initially put a default of C: in the download version?

Many thanks again!

Thanks for the feedback. As soon as I get a moment, I'll modify it and upload it again. I assumed it would just give a simple error message. Yours is a simple solution.

i've tried the converter and changed the settings and converted the file but it showed "file format error" on my mp4, it doesn't work.

I did everything rite and I have the full version cuz i got my serial key from www.serials.ws, here's the key if u want to use full version:

THEL-ORDO-FTHE-WAR0-D0ED-CFB7-ED35-1002

anyway it doesn't work, i can convert files and play it on my mp4 using AVI converter 1.0 but the program u suggested doesn't work. Also i've tried using AVI converter 3.0 and the resolution is too big, i can only choose one resolution using the 3.0 version and i posted my problem at the Support section, plz help if anyone have any suggestions cuz i wanna convert multiple files at once.

Hello!

I'm a hungarian, and I made a converter program(Alpha mp4 = Rockchip 2"). You can download this my webpage: alpha-mp4.extra.hu

At the bottom of page have 3 links, this name is Letöltés. The first letöltes is the program, the second the config.ini and the last is a sample video!

You can download the program and setup it! In c:\Program Files\Avconcerter you copy the config.ini file, and use the converter!

Goodbye!

Sorry, guys, but none of this works. Well, some does, but you get a movie about 300-400 MB. That's stupidly wasteful on a 2" screen.

The answer is to get viDrop, which has 3 presets for Rockchip and you can modify them how you like. I am using 15fps about 90kbit/s 2-pass for the video and 48 kbit/s for the audio. Works like a charm and the movie is only ~100 MB.

This thread is full of wrong info. Don't believe any of it. Just get viDrop. It works. You can use it for general video encoding as well. Go here:
http://www.mympxplayer.org/free-open...rs-vt7071.html

I recommend also you get the Windows Essentials codec pack for mplayer and unzip it into the viDrop program folder. Then you will be able to transcode just about anything.
