AMV convert tool errors after 10 seconds
Hi,
I am having trouble with amv file convert tool .When I enter the file to be converted & click begin the file changes from unconverted to converting for about 10 seconds then changes to error. I can enter the file & press play ,the file then plays on the amv convert tool screen no problems .Also the unconvert changes to sucess while the file is playing .The transcoding scale does not move at all. I have installed amv 4.00 & amv 3.68 & it does exactly the same on both . I have also followed the instructions given on the site in relation to changing the "try other codec ",also adjusted image & frame from middle to high etc. I copied a dvd using Nero & when I enter the file it comes up with nrg after it ,I assume this is the file format .I thought this nrg thing may not be compatible .Any way any help would be much appreciated ,Thanks. |
lach,
Just to clear things up, can you tell me what is the file extension of the original video you want to copy? Is it a .avi? .wmv? .nrg files are Nero image files only used by Nero. The AMV Convert Tool won't be able to use this to convert the video to an AMV video. You may also want to install a CODEC PACK on your computer as well to rule out the possiblity that it's a codec problem on your computer. You can download the codec packs from this site as well. It's under "Downloads" --> "Tools" --> "Drivers". Try that and let us know of the result. |
Thanks Binh ,
I'm not sure what the file extension of the original dvd is ,or where to look .Nothing on the cover though.(all this is very new to me ). I will delete the nero & install another dvd copying program .Is there one you could recommend ? I will in the mean time install a codec pack . I will let you know how things work out . |
lach,
Converting directly from DVD to AMV will be quite difficult. The best solution and advice I can give you is to firstly convert the DVD to a DivX or Xvid .avi movie first (like the ones you can download from the internet). Then with that .avi file, convert it to an AMV video instead. You will have less problems that way and better results. |
i am able to convert my vcd files (dat files) directly by amv convertor.
but if i follow 2 steps approach explained elsewhere (dat to avi - to amv) amv covert tools 3.68 says error and stops. is this a codec problem? i can convert in one step but not 2 steps, and i prefer 2 step approach as i can change brightness/contast and sound settings. |
javad, It sounds like a codec problem, try installing the k_Lite Mega Codec Pack
http://www.free-codecs.com/download_...hp?d=2369&s=42 What are you using to convert the vcd to avi? |
using pocketdivxencoder to convert vcd to avi as suggested in 2 step process.
will try to install codek pack and see. thanks |
and ok it seems codec problem. after installing kmedia codec pack conversion works.
thanks once again |
