Re: How to copy windscreen DVD to .amv

tkarami , you can use VirtualDub to pre-process your dvd movies.
But note that since it is a widescreen dvd, after conversion to preserve aspect ratio, you can't expect the movie to cover the full screen resolution on your player.

You can use the crop filter to cut out unwanted areas of the movie, and the resize filter to change it to a suitable resolution for your player.

After processing, use the AMV converter provided in the cd or from the downloads section to convert the processed video in .AMV format.

Hope this helps.

tkarami,
The first thing you need to do is convert the dvd to .avi you can do that with xmpeg here:
http://www.mympxplayer.org/xmpeg-df292.html

Then if you want a quick conversion you can run the .avi through amv converter at 128x96.

If you want to improve the quality of you final AMV then after you have converted the DVD to .avi pre-process the avi before converting to amv with VirtualDub here:
http://www.mympxplayer.org/virtualdub-mpeg2-df370.html

There is a guide to help you understand how to use VirtualDub to resize, crop and match the frame rate to your AMV conversion here:

Re: How to copy windscreen DVD to .amv

tadad1. this is how i converted the file.

First i used DVD Decrypter to copy the movie to the computer

Then i used AutoGK to copy it to .avi the file size was about 2.5gig

Then i used VirtualDub to get good quilty the link u gave me thats wat i did after it was done the file size was about 8.5gig

Then i used amv converter to convert it to .amv format.

thats all i did but the sound is very weak its not loud.

so do u think u can help me at all or will i have to start again. btw im convewrting at 128x96 oh yeah aswell is there a setting in VirtualDub that will turn the sound up THANKS

tadad1 28th Nov 2006 8:45 pm

tkarami, You can increase the volume in VDub the setting is under Audio>Volume.

tkarami 28th Nov 2006 9:05 pm

tadad1. i went to Audio Settings clicked on

Full Proccesing Mode then Clicked Audio and put the volume up to 900 lol but when i tryed to save the file it came up with an error the error said:

No Audio Decompressor could be found to decompress the source audio format.
(source format tag: 2000)

thats wat it said so do u think u can help me still please

tadad1 28th Nov 2006 9:21 pm

tkarami, I have uploaded a settings profile for you here:
http://uploaded.to/?id=f70642
In VDub press ctrl+L and load the settings, you may want to check the cropping on the resize filter.
I have added audio and video compression settings to reduce the size of the output file.
You should be able to adjust the volume now.
