Re: Problem converting AMV to 160x128 resolution!

thanks.. ive seen it already and i've tried playing videos at 160x120 but the video does not take up the whole screen. I need a converter that does 160x128 resolution.

I think its possible because my player came with a pair of 160x128 videos. the question is what software did they use?

admin 10th Dec 2006 4:27 am

MusicBOY,

Can you upload your videos that are at 160 x 128 please?

Would love to see it and if it's possible, will investigate.

MusicBOY, Play one of the amv files on your PC using the AMV Player. While it is running right click on the picture and select properties. What are the details given?

Re: Problem converting AMV to 160x128 resolution!

OMG!! its 160x120!! thats strange... because i tried converting my videos at 160x120 but they do not take up the whole screen. it is mirrored on the left-edge of the screen..

What could be the problem then? Please help me on this one guys..tnx!

tadad1 10th Dec 2006 4:58 am

MusicBOY,
What version of the converter are you using?
How do your converted videos look when played on the PC?
Do the properties of your converted videos match the properties of your sample videos?

Re: Problem converting AMV to 160x128 resolution!

okay guys heres the link. my screen resolution is 160x128 also.
and the pictures that can be displayed at full screen also should be at 160x128 resolution.

I still believe that the video is at 160x128.

Tried it and same thing - about 12 sec, sounds fades and video freezes!

BTW the end of the clip has no sound (on windows)

tadad1 27th Dec 2006 11:36 pm

tonypisa, Did your player come with a sample video, if so can you upload it and leave a link.

The reason the sound is lost on the sample is because it is not a completed conversion I just ran it for a few seconds and then stopped it.

Can you give me some details on your player:
Capacity
Firmware version
Screen size

Hello Tadad, Thanks for all the help.
As mentioned in another post, the only video that works is one that came with the unit (160*120 @16fps). It can be found here: http://rapidshare.com/files/9166575/original.amv (Actually it is a cute xmas video).

The s1fx program gives this read out:
ic version = 0x0101
storage info = 0x0106, 0x0000, 0x0000, 0x0000
device = 'S1 Mp3 Player'
manufacturer = 'Wilson Co. Ltd.'
bootflash type = 'F641'
brom version = 3.0.00
firmware version = 3.5.37
read boot record...
detect firmware size....
firmware size = 0x0077FE00

The unit is 1.8 in, 2GB and made by Sage human electronics and marked model V12. I have filled the player up to 2 GB , and the last mp3 file play fine, so I don't think it is hacked. It is really weird .
Just added a pic:

Thanks again.

tonypisa, Can't find any problems with the info you have given and the sample seems quite standard. It may be an idea to give your player a Fat format if you can just to rule out any bad sector or memory problems.
Also extracting, repairing and reloading the firmware can sometimes help, but if you can play the sample no probs i doubt this would make any difference.
I have done another sample for you but this time I have pre-processed the video and resized, reset the frame rate etc prior to converting it to AMV.

tonypisa 29th Dec 2006 5:55 am

@tad
Tried this one and same thing. Meantime, I found a fellow on an Italian forum that has the same problem and stumbled across something even stranger. If I stop the video before it dies (within 12 sec), and start again, it will go for another 12 sec. In theory I could watch the whole thing about 10 sec at a time, stopping and starting. Weirder and weirder...
Am wondering whether to try and format and/or flash it, but I would rather change it if I can get the ebayer to agree.

tadad1 29th Dec 2006 6:15 am

tonypisa, Go into the movie player and press the menu button, scroll down to "Repeat" and make sure it is set to "Normal".
It sounds like it may be set to "Intro"

tonypisa 29th Dec 2006 6:27 am

Damn damn damn - that's it! Never thought it would eve havve that sort of option! Boy do I feel stupid!

A million thanks.

tadad1 29th Dec 2006 6:31 am

tonypisa, LOL :) , I should have thought about it earlier, just glad that was the problem as it was bugging me big time.

tonypisa 29th Dec 2006 6:48 am

I found at least two other people with the same problem on other sites. Sure wuold help if these devices came with a decent manual. Mine doesn't even mention video!!
I'll see if I can write one after I get to know thew unit better. Thanks again.
