Default Video skipping when I convert to .amv

When I convert .mpgs to .amv and play it on my mp player, it skips but the sound is ok. Im using the standard amv converter software that came with it.
Im new at this so as much detailed help as possible would be great.

Happy New Year all........

lowmk2, Most video run at around 25 frames per second. AMV video runs at 16, 12, 10 frames per second. The converter is not terribly good at calculating frame rate conversions and tends to drop blocks of frames which causes the skipping. You can try converting at a different frame rate (Medium-12fps) setting in AMV Converter or pre-process your video to a matching frame rate before conversion.

otherwise what you can do is, look at the properties of your avi file.

if it is 25fps, use low/high fps setting while converting the file.

if it is 29fps, use medium fps setting while converting the file.

this method works for me

What I do is use Dr. DivX and convert the screen size and framerate to the level of the player. Then convert the resulting AVI using the program. I am fairly impressed with the quality I get. But I didn't have any problem doing it using the tool alone.

bpazolli, when you convert the framerate using dr. divx, do you experience problems in audio-video synchronization?
