AMV Convert tool 3.68 missing buttons

I installed version 3.68 of the MP3 Player Utilities from (I've tried both mympxplayer.org and other sites) and the buttons are missing on the display. In some cases, I can click where the buttons should be and it will work, but it isn't really usable. I previously installed versions 4.0 and 4.09 but I've uninstalled them and even used the Microsoft Uninstall Cleanup utility. But nothing seems to help. Any suggestions?

did you replace any of the 3.68 files (amvtransform.ini, etc) with one from the other versions?
