Default Ringing sound in converted AMV

I've been trying to convert some captured TV programs. I use VirtualDub to convert them to AVI and they sound good. When I convert them to AMV, there is a ringing sound in the background. I know the AMV format has a low bitrate, is it causing this? Any way to get rid of this?

Have you tried converting it to other file formats aside from AVI before converting them to AMV?

I had the same problem once, well a little different cause I got an error message when trying to convert AVI (even if the program supports the file format) and what I did was I converted the AVI to mpeg format first and then tried to convert it to AMV and it was successful.. A little time consuming though but really worths a try! ^_^

Well I just hope this link will help you to acquire video converting programs... that is if you want to try it out!

Just click HERE

Thanks for the link. I actually am starting with a MPEG-2 program stream which has MPEG-2 video and MPEG-1 Layer 2 audio (according to GSpot). I've tried converting to AMV directly from this format and the audio had the same ringing sound.

majorCS, Can you do a short conversion and upload to www.uploaded.to and leave a link.
Does this happen with all amv or just the ones you convert?
What codec pack do you have installed on your PC?

My converted AMV is at http://uploaded.to/?id=7ylg4w
The original MPG file is at http://uploaded.to/?id=dtsdlc
For this conversion I converted directly from MPG to AMV using the 4.09 version.
I have the SLD Codec Pack installed. I haven't tried using any AMVs other than the ones I converted.

tadad1, the AMV you provided plays good - no ring. What were your steps to convert it?

majorCS, The codec pack was the K-Lite mega Codec pack http://www.free-codecs.com/download_...hp?d=2879&s=42

There is some info on setting up 3.57 here:http://www.mympxplayer.org/full-scre...or--vt449.html

you can download the transformsetup.ini here: http://uploaded.to/?id=jb25w7

Just copy it into the AMVTool folder.
