Does anybody know how to convert .mp4 to .amv ?

gdrago, look for a little program called 'AudioVideo To Exe v1.4'. Use it to convert mp4 files to mpg first because it can't convert directly to AMV. Then run the mpg through AMV Converter.
It's fast, small, 100% freeware and does a nice job.

if you are trying to convert any mp4 files that were downloaded through iTunes, then you will not be able to as these files are encrypted and will only work on a iPod video or iTunes.

You might search for a video converter which supports frame servers (not sure if you will find it) or you might use any other program such as VirtualDub to convert it to a lossless video file and then convert it to a amv (also if you video converter support this lossless codec)...

The last, transform this mp4 (using virduldub for example) to transform it into a xvid and then to amv...
That's what I'd do.
