Converter "Disk Full"?

Has anyone figured a work around for this problem besides splitting your avi file in 2 or 3 pieces?

So far I have tried doubling my paging file to 4gb's with a max of 8gb
Deleting all temp files
Making a new partion and saving files there
Installing the K-lite pack from the d/l section here
Amv converter 4.0 4.05 4.09 (I have a glacier so i need higher rez options)

Playing with these
MEMSIZE=60000000
DISKSIZE=1600000000
as u can see...and as far as I can tell they accomplish almost nothing except only being able to convert like 20% if you throw them to far out of whack from the 30000000, 1600000000 defaults.

Some 700-80mb avi files will convert 100% fine some will get to 40% some to 67% and most annoyingly 92%

I'm using 192x160 seems to be the largest format i can use that I don't get that aweful choppy every few seconds effect, pretty sure I get that with any 208xXXX format.

My best guess at this point is it has to do something with the temp file AMV Converter puts in your AMV Converter folder as it converts a file. This file grows as the converting process goes on (If you have your AMVConverter folder open you can watch it grow by refreshing the folder over and over). The files I can convert 100% the temp file grows much more slowly. The one I can't tops out at 1.5GB usually about halfway through the conversion than "FULL DISK". As far as I can tell by playing with the MEMSIZE & DISKSIZE you can change how big or small this temp file can become. 1.95GB's is the biggest I've gotten it so far with the settings above.

When i tried 208x144 the file only went to like .45GB and gave me the "DISK FULL" I went back to 192x180 and it went back to growing to 1.5GB and converted fine. Seems the larger you can get this file b4 it caps out the higher the % of a file it will work through without crapping out.

Anyway if anyone has any ideas or suggestions for me it would be much appreciated

Re: Converter "Disk Full"?

Well the best i can do is get the temp file up to 1.95gbs i've tried many variations with the Disksize and memsize...

MEMSIZE=90000000
DISKSIZE=6400000000

These settings seem to do the best for me at least.

I'm relatively sure this will make it through most 700MB avi files if its much bigger than that the only thing I can do at this point is break it in to 2 pieces which u can do with the AMV Converter software fairly easily.

Anyway if anyone has a better fix or more to add please do.

Also if anyone can tell me how to bump up my fps from 12 to 16 in 192x160 that would help too =)

Sounds like you are reaching the 2GB limit of Windows. I've never really had to deal with this problem before, but it sounds like it might be related to your problem. See if http://www.oreillynet.com/windows/bl...s_2gb_cac.html sheds some light on the problem. Also try http://www.google.com/search?q=2gb+limit+windows

Re: Converter "Disk Full"?

Yeah i figured that was the case i guess I need to invest in vitsa 64 bit to match my 64bit cpu.

I have a glacier. I can convert a 208x176 amv which fits my screen pretty well and the vidoe is fine if i use supertools to change the fps to 12 but the audio is a bit choppy. I can actually convert it at 24fps as well but the audio is REAL choppy. The video actually looks pretty good though. only those 2 fps settings will work as far as i can tell without getting that video stutter every few seconds. I've tried playing with the sync's, audio, video, both, and none. To no avail. Anyone have any suggestions?

BTW the native resolution of the glacier for video seems to be 190x172 at 12fps. any higher than that and video is choppy.

This probably shoulda been a new post but im lazy >.<

Smokes247,

What quality setting are you using?
Are you using "high" or "medium"? Try changing the quality in the AMV Convert Tool to "medium" instead and see if that helps during the conversion.

The "disk error" could also be in the way the original video you want to convert is encoded. Maybe it's not encoded correctly, or using a codec that isn't stable when used by the AMV Convert Tool? That might explain why you said some will convert 100% and some won't.

Stuupid "Disk Full" over here too..

same damn thing over here... "Disk Full"

and it's usually after 71-72% converting
and sitting around waiting...

well i read your post, going to try your numbers...

my file is "Constantine" 200min 701mb xvid.avi
only one i'm having problems with so far...

i get Extremely Clear amv moovies...
on some movies, i can even read names in the credits...

1.8" TFT Nano Clone

i use DVDFab Platinum
Generic Mobile
avi.xvid.mp3 at 1200 video bitrate...
128k audio mp3
432x240 1.8 aspect ratio

AMV 1.8
focus=0
chip=1
160x120

sometimes i'll Virtual Dub, sometimes i don't...

and Thank you Smokes247...!

your numbers worked all the way to 700meg.. YeeHaaaw

i've been trying this and that for at Least three days now...
and could not break 72% converted..

your numbers got me all the way to the credits, before our LiL' Disk Full error...

well that's good enough for me... who needs to read them anyway...
Deleted the avi file today...

Thanks...

with DVDFab, it will show you how big the finished file will be...
guess i'll keep an eye on it and keep it under 700megs in avi form...

i'd hate to have to reduce the 1200 video bitrate... that's the key...

well Constantine is a 2hrs long movie.. not too many are in that area...

once again, thanks...
