[solved] ME2 Player dvd conversion

Hi Guys I wonder if anyone can help? :)

I have bought a ME2 2gb mp3 mp4 player from Hong Kong and would like to put a dvd onto it.
The instructions tell me that the format is avi.
I have tried using the converter that came with the player but this doesn't seem to be working,
I have put some clips onto the player that were on my phone so the player is working is working.
It will also let me put mp3's on as well.
I'm sure it's a file type problem any help would be welcome.

Re: ME2 Player dvd conversion

Hi Martin, I have an ME2 player as well. If your DVD files have the AVI extension then you can use MP3 Player Utilities 3.57 or 4.0 and download them from this site. The specs on the player require one of these. Once you have downloaded go into Knowledge Base forum on this site and look for How-to-convert-to-amv-using-the-mp3-player-utilities-368. This should help you convert your AVI files to AMV.

I hope this helped!

:) HI miffedmom thanks for the reply, the instructions for the player tell me that they need converting to avi files for the player to be able to play them.
I converted part of a dvd to avi from the avex dvd ripper but the player doesn't recognise the file.
What I want to do is convert a film dvd to play on the player.

Re: ME2 Player dvd conversion

Hi Martin, I am in the same boat. I want to load some DVD's on my harddrive but they have to be converted to AVI, then converted to AMV to put on players. The files I have downloaded to my player were already AVI that I had previously downloaded from the net.

Hopefully someone can help!!

Martin 18th Apr 2007 4:24 am

HI I have converted some files into avi as the instructions on the player suggest but when I try and play them it is giving me a file format error.
I have a converter that will convert to any file but don't know which file to convert to and get the player to play it.
I have put a file on from a u tube download and this is playing so I think that It's a case of knowing what to do because this suggest that the player is working.
MP3's are no problem either.

Re: ME2 Player dvd conversion

Hi Martin, the disk that came with my player is useless. I am trying to find a program that will convert DVD to AVI, but so far no luck. Also, none of the AMV converters I have used so far will give me the results I am looking for. I have managed to convert movies that I downloaded from the web if they are under 90 minutes, but nothing over 90 minutes.

Hope someone can help soon!

Martin 18th Apr 2007 7:07 am

Hi miffedmom I havn't even managed to download anything and put it on the player.
As I said the instructions say that it needs to be in avi format but when I convert to this the player just comes up with file format problem.
Maybee I'm missing the point!
You 90 mins might be the capacity of the player, my one will take a mini sd card.

I might have thought that someone reading this might be able to point me in the right direction.

Re: ME2 Player dvd conversion

Hi Martin, I doubt that is the capacity of the player as it is 2 GB.

Have you managed to convert your DVD's to AVI? All of these players require the movies/videos to be converted from AVI to AMV, then they can be placed on player.

Are you using the disk that came with the player to convert your AVI to AMV?

Martin 18th Apr 2007 9:34 am

HI miffedmom I tried using the disc that came with the player but this was no good.

I havn't managed to convert dvd's into avi yet.

I don't understand the files yet are you saying that whatever file I have needs to be converted to AVI and then converted to AMV?

:(

Re: ME2 Player dvd conversion

Hi Martin,

The disc that comes with the players is usually just for converting your AVI files to AMV files.

Yes, any DVD file must be first converted to AVI, then they can be converted to AMV using one of the converters from this site, then they can be downloaded to your player.

Martin 18th Apr 2007 4:41 pm

Tried converting to avi then amv with amv converter 3.57 but when It's put on the's nothing in the icon showing on the player.
Strange the file that's working is showing an avi file but have tried that as well.

Running out of ideas help anyone?

Good luck!

Re: ME2 Player dvd conversion

Martin, what ME2 player do you have? The one with the 2" screen? If so, it probably has the rockchip in it, and won't be able to play AMV files.

I was told to convert my movies to Xvid avi format. Did so, but the player won't play them. So right now i'm trying to figure out what bitrate to encode at. If i have success i'll check back in.

Martin 23rd Apr 2007 3:38 am

HI yes it is the 2" screen version I did try the xvid avi but mine wouldn't play either.
Gone a bit funny now.
I was thinking about re instaling the firmware but don't know what the firmware is or how to do it.
Regards, Martin.

Re: ME2 Player dvd conversion

My player came with a file called Customer data.rar. You can unrar that file and you'll find a file called CR010B_MLC_SPFD54126B_v20_11_23.rfw or somthing similar. Thats the firmware. In another directory in the same rar file there is a program called Consumer.exe . I believe that is the program you use to transfer the firmware to your player. I have not done it yet myself because the program doesn't work in Linux.

Martin 23rd Apr 2007 6:26 pm

I will have a look.
I did find the customer data in the player but it won't open, will try and copy it and open in the computer.

Martin 24th Apr 2007 4:30 pm

HI got the player working at last. :D
The player was doing a lot of strange things so we decided to take a chance and format it through windows. This got the player working again.

We then followed some instructions from this forum on conversion settings for this player and bingo it worked.

:D :D :D

Martin 25th Apr 2007 12:08 am

I will run through what I did to resolve the issues with my ME2 with a 2" screen 2gb mp4 player.

I can only say that this worked for me.

Although the player wasn't showing any files when the drive was opened on the computer in properties it was showing nearly full so we decided to try and format it with windows xp, it was formated in FAT.

After this the drive was showing nearly 2gb in properties and all the menu system was still on the player so the firmware hadn't been altered.

Reading this site we found a conversion of avi file for this player which was:

Codex XviD movie avi, Vioeo size 224X176, Bit rate 400' Frame rate 20, Audio Codex mp2, Bit rate 96,

I used a converter called Imtoo which was given to me by a friend.

I hope this information help others with this player.

Martin.

I think I have the same player as you do, but all the stuff you said doesn't make any sense to me. I am so technological stupid. :( Can you explain step by step, with links and how to do everything? This is the player I bought:
http://cgi.ebay.com/2GB-MP3-MP4-PLAY...QQcmdZViewItem

I have tried to play avi, mpg, mp4, amv, and other files and it doesn't work. I am really confused what to do, so if you understand what the problem is, I will be really thankful for your help!! :)

Senna

Martin 28th Apr 2007 7:52 am

HI Senna your not stupid it's called learning so don't worry.

I will run you through step by step how I solved the problem I think the player should be ok but there's always a risk that what worked for me won't work for you.
My attitude is that It's not working now so we can't break it any more.

The player looks the same as mine so we will carry out the same tasks.

If I don't get back straight away don't worry as I'm off to work soon.
Are you up for it?

Martin.

Senna 28th Apr 2007 12:26 pm

I'm definitely up for learning how to make my player work! It means a lot to me... So I will try my best-- Thank you so much for helping me!

Senna

Senna 28th Apr 2007 1:57 pm

OH! I got it working! I needed to use the avi converter to get the avi files to be the right resolution, or something like that. Anyway, now I can rip my favorite music videos off of my dvds, then convert the avi files with the avi converter, and then it plays normally on my player. Hurray! :)

I'm a little slow at times but slowly can figure things out :-P

Martin 28th Apr 2007 4:33 pm

Great glad you got it working

:D :D :D

A buddy and me are testing these settings now on 2Gb ME2 2" screen player - will confirm with line by line if it works

Martin 11th May 2007 10:14 am

Good luck If it doesn't work try formating the drive in windows first.
It needs to be formated in FACT.

Digital2 15th May 2007 2:30 am

Hi, Cnaw somebody told me to use xilisoft video converter version 3.1 and choose Xvid profile with video size 224X176,bitrate=200, frame rate 20, aspect auto, same quality false, audio mp2 (not mp3), bit rate 64 or 128, sample 44100,channels 2, disable audio false. i succes to convert my avi file with that sofware so i able to play the file in my mp4 player. I think the conversion only work for rockchip base mp4 player. Don't forget to download k-lite mega codec, because if you don't have the xvid video codec the software won't work. Sorry because my English not good.
