Video Files

I recently bought a 512MB MP4 player from China Vision with mini SD slot, 2 in screen.

I could play music files (mp3, wma) on the player. I copied a two-part video onto the player using the USB port. When I safely removed the player from the USB port and tried to watch the movie, I got an error that says there is no file in the SD card. I had successfully converted the AVI to AMV using the AMV converter proggie.

Could someone give me a helping hand? Please.

anjinsan, What is the firmware version number, it may not be an Actions chip player and may not support AMV.

Thanks for the quick response.

I dont' know what the firmware version this MP4 has. How do you determine what the firmware version this player has? Where do I look.

If you enter the settings menu there should be an entry for firmware info.

This is the info I got from the System just as you suggested.

Version - 00.00.0002

Date - 2007-01-08

Flash Mem - 6 / 476MB

It appears it may be a Rockchip player AVI compatible not AMV. Have a browse through the Video related section of the forum there are quite a number of threads regarding Rockchip conversion software and settings.

I had a similar problem with mine!

What I found worked was ( a bit long but nothing else worked)

Convert AVI/MP4 or whatever format the film is in, into a bog standard mpeg with mp3 sound and then from that into the format your player takes.

Took a while to do but worked every time.

Could you explain what is a bog standard mpeg with mp3 sound. Is there a particular program that you use to the AVI/MP4 video file.

Really appreciate all the info you could provide me.

OK use something like 'SUPER' Link to super site
To convert the Avi or MP4 into an mpeg. Then convert this mpeg into the amv format that your player plays.

The converter tool that came with my mp3/4 was so fussy with the file conversion this was the only way I could find that did it without errors.
