problems converting video files(.avi) to mp4 player

i recently bought an mp4 player from ebay the other day as shown below in the link

playing music is all goood, but wen it comes to converting files into .avi format ... i get this format errror... if anyone has the same player like me, please come forward to help... i reallly want to play video on my player.. :(
