Can I make my mp3/mp4 player play avi?
 

As far as I can tell it will only play video in AMV format.

I have a Mac (OS 10.4.10) and as far as I've been able to find out there is no AMV converter available. (if there's help to do this.. I'm all ears too)

My player has no visible brand name (4GB) and the firmware is 9.0.50

Was was wondering if there was a hack or mod or something that will allow it to play Video in AVI format.

Nope. There is no way to make an Actions (9.0.50) AMV player play .avi videos. It just doesn't have the hardware or processing power.

and there's is no way to make AMV with a mac?

No unfortunately there isn't an AMV converter for the Mac.

You have a few options though. Buy a cheapo used Windows PC or borrow a friends for the conversion (obviously).
You could use http://media-convert.com/convert/index.php to convert your videos to AMV... but it takes an eterinty to upload and convert your videos here... painful. And the conversion resolutions are so small it's not worth the trouble.
Another option would be to see if theres a free Windows emulator for your Mac.

or install a software that enables you to emulate diff OS in A single computer... the price is OK without a bulkness of another PC
