Re: AVIConverter.ini file posted by Grindathotte-Help !!
I would buy converter software if I could find one that will do the job. The player plays .avi but I have downloaded and tried many converters - free and trial - and I can't find one that will do the job. Some require you to choose from a variety of options when you either don't know for certain what the format you want is or you can't fathom out how to enter it, others force a fixed ratio, eg: Super won't let me enter a size of 176x220 (it changes it to 176x224). The test video on my player shows 176x220 and objects to anything else. Others seem to produce the right specs. but the player still won't play it.
Someone must have succeeded. The AVIConverter 4 (with the latest converter.ini as in posts above) converts to 224 width x 176 height but the test video is 176 width x 220 height. As thats the file which plays perfectly I guess it has to be that format. |
glms: understood, I wouldn't spend money not knowing if it works either. Fortunately, the one I mentioned has a demo ;-)
When I first tried to set up my players, I noticed, like you, that these players can be incredibly picky. I suspect that the ones you've made with the right size had something else incorrect, Quite possible an audio setting. One of my players wants the audio onlt as mp3, 128Kbps, 441000 setting for sampling. The other player wants "mp2" (mpga), 96Kbps, 41000. That second one would play the video from the first, but no sound. The first would play absolutely nothing formatted for the second. Maddening! To set up my converter, I played the working test piece in VLC. Using the information menu item, I noted the size, the codecs for the streams, the bitrate for each stream, the sampling for the audio, pretty much every bit of info there. When I then set up a custom profile, I plugged all those values in and let it rip. The output worked like a charm. I just tried, and I was able to create a video resolution of 176x220 using the "custom" option. If you want to give it a go, I'd be happy to answer any questions about settings on that app for you. |
Re: AVIConverter.ini file posted by Grindathotte-Help !!
Hi again,
I just wrote a log reply only to lose it somehow :( The player I have is almost the same as the one shown in the posting: "file format error" when playing .avi file I can't get video to play! The menu is the same. The only difference is in the controls. The instruction book says it plays .avi files and uses a program called AVIConverter to convert various other formats to this. The problem is that all the versions of this program I have found convert to 224x176 - portraite. My player will only accept 176x220 - landscape. I need a program which will do this and rotate the image to fit. The video file which comes ready installed has the following attributes as shown in VLC Media Info: Stream 0 Codec: XVID Language: Type: Video Resolution: 176x220 Frame rate: 18.0000 Stream 1 Codec: mpga Language: Type: Audio Channels: 2 Sample rate: 44100 Hz Bitrate: 64kb/s General Duration: 0:03:30 Meta-information Setting: HAS_INDEX IS_INTERLEAVED TRUST_CKTYPE (that's how it's written) When I convert a file using MP4 converter the following info is shown using Windows Properties Summary: Width 176 Height 220 Audio Biterate 64kbs Audio format MPEG Layer - 3 Video frame rate 18 Data rate 62kbps Video sample size 24 bit Video compression XVID The picture is not rotated to landscape. The file does not play, giving a "file format error". The video supplied with the player has the same figures except: The Audeo format is MPEG Level 2 The Video data rate is 104kbps The video sample size is 12 bit. The picture is in landscape format. If you coulld give me any help regarding this I would be most grateful. Regards, glms |

Hi All,
The problem has been solved. The software that will do the job can be found at: http://www.smelektrindo.com/firmware...rt%20Setup.exe This is not the AVIConverter you may have tried so don't dismiss this! Thank you to the authur. glms |
glms,
with respect, the problem was solved with the software I mentioned, but as it isn't free, it was dismissed by those in this thread. It supports custom size, framerate, rotation, bitrate, and yes, mp2. Point is, there are tons of applications that can create a properly formatted .avi file. Just most of them the author would like to see some money for their work. Kind of like most of us, I suspect ;-) |
Re: AVIConverter.ini file posted by Grindathotte-Help !!
Hi, I also have a problem with AVIConverter, the Converter.ini and the sound synchronisation.
The problem is that if I use PAL_Normal, PAL_Low oder PAL_High setting, which means 24 fps, the sound and the picture are not synchronous any more. But it is not a constant delay or somthing. The longer the video takes, the more the sound is behind the pictures. E.g. at the beginning there is no delay, but after about 5 minutes there is a delay of 3-4 seconds. I tried it with the -delay option, but the problem stayed. The only thing changed was that at the beginning there is delay of the picture, at a certain point they are synchronous and then the sound is delayed again. What can I do against this? I also watched the converted video on my PC, but there was no delay at all. Even if I use one of the 20 fps options, there are also no sound problems. |
Can anyone tell me where i can download aviconverter 4.0 and pal ini file?
thankssssssssss edit: found it. |
