AVIConverter.ini file posted by Grindathotte-Help !!
Hi, can you please help. With the newly adjusted AVIConverter.ini file posted on the download section by Grindathotte does anyone know how to adjust the code within the file to suit my player. It's a Sumvision Sempra Pro Mp4 player which came with AVIConverter CD, everyone knows the audio is out of sync with the video using the supplied CD, but even using the adjusted .ini file by kindly posted by Grindathotte it is still is out of sync. Audio a second ahead of the Video. Looking at the .ini file there must be an adjustment somewhere within the code to adjust this error. I,ve tried a few adjustments myself but I just get the error warning, I don't know the correct code adjustment. Grindathotte if you read this can you please contact or post me some information on how to do it. I'm using 224 x176, Normal 24fps and Pan Scan at the moment.
If I increase or decrease the frame rate within the code would this fix the problem? |
Re: AVIConverter.ini file posted by Grindathotte-Help !!
I have the same mp4/mp3 player but 2gb model. First off, the AVI converter from the CD (2.1) is totally useless for converting non chinese DVD's because of different fps.
You should download the latest version of AVI converter which is version 4 from this site, and then download the latest Converter.ini patch from this site and place in the AVI converter installation folder. I normally use Pal High for tv shows like the simpsons etc, and pal normal for longer videos like Top Gear and some movies. So far, the audio and video is synced when playing on my sumvision sepra pro unless i fast forward a video which sometimes puts it out of synced. Perhaps someone else can help us with this problem if they have a solution or a simular device. |

I to had problems with the audio sync problem on my 4gig Sempra Pro but not since using AVI Converter 4 with the PAL2 ini file.

Hopefully I will find the answer somewhere on the WorldWideWeb unless someone out there knows the difinitive answer already to fix this sync problem, if someone has found the answer please spill the beans for all us frustrated AVIConverter fans to share !!! |
Re: AVIConverter.ini file posted by Grindathotte-Help !!
There's a couple of options to try. In the Converter.ini file, after "-ofps 20" or "-ofps 24" add the parameter "-delay x" where x is the delay time in seconds. The value can be either positive or negative. You'll need to either find which line of the file applies to your selection of settings, or use a global replace function to add it to every line. This will only work if the delay is constant throughout the video and is the same with all videos. Alternatively, you can try adding the parameter "-forceidx" which will force re-synchronisation. It sounds like a dream answer and I have found it to work on occasions, but it makes things worse more often than better. Good luck!

Re: AVIConverter.ini file posted by Grindathotte-Help !!
Yipeeeee !!! :D :D
I have finally solved my out of sync audio problem with AVI Converter v4.0 with a big thanks from Grindathotte. Grindathotte provided me with a new post with some extra information to adjust the .ini file that he kindly posted some weeks ago, and after a couple of hours of trying different timing settings I cracked the problem. Originally the audio was always one second roughly ahead of the video when using the v4.0 AVI Converter and the ammended .ini file provided by Grindathotte. By adding the following new line of text code to the .ini file it now seems to have solved the problem, with the audio now back in sync with the video and it plays perfectly !!!; In the Converter.ini file, after "-ofps 20" and "-ofps 24" add the parameter "-delay -0.2" (The value can be either positive or negative. I think this depends on your particular out-of-sync problem?) See Grindathottes explanation of the change in the earlier reply post on this thread. Here's an example of the first ammended line code; 1-1-1=-ofps 20 -delay -0.2 -vf-add scale=224:176 -vf-add expand=224:176:-1:-1:1 -srate 44100 -ovc xvid -xvidencopts bitrate=350:max_bframes=0:quant_type=h263 -oac lavc -lavcopts acodec=mp2:abitrate=128 I started by adding "-delay 6" this made the audio even further ahead, then I tried "-delay -2", this made the audio lag behind the video, so finally I started to work on finer percentage changes and 0.2 was the magic number for my particular problem. What a Golden Shot, a complete hit and YES it worked....Yipeeeee !!! For anyones help and information, or if you have a similar problem to mine, I have the Sumvision Sempra Pro Mp4 player (2" Screen), the settings that now work using AVI Converter v4.0 are 224x176, "PAL HIGH" and 4:3 Aspect Ratio, when converting a .VOB file to AVI. Thanks Grindathotte, you have made me a "Happy Man".       |
Re: AVIConverter.ini file posted by Grindathotte-Help !!
Glad it worked. Incidentally, are you using the latest version of the ini file with two pass option? This gives very reasonable quality on the medium setting, even on action sequences. It nearly doubles the conversion time and involves selecting the same file twice (see instructions).

Re: AVIConverter.ini file posted by Grindathotte-Help !!
I have just found this site. Hi all.
I have purchased an MP3/4 player but I can't get avi files to work either. The player came without software but the instruction book says it uses AVIConverter 2.0. I have tried V2, V3 and V4 but they only produce a file error message. Looking at the file summary in Windows the Test File supplied with the player has a width of 176 pixels and a height of 220 pixels. When played by windows the picture is rotated counter clockwise. AVIConverter only offers 220 width x 176 height and when played by windows produces a normal display however the actual width is shown as 224.. I have found that if I open the Converter.ini file and change round the height and width setting, the player still rejects the file but if when I swap round the figures I also change the 224 to 220 the player attempts to play the file (displays at least the first frame) but then jumps to the test file (as it's the only other avi file on the player). The displayed picture is obviously not the right way round and is squashed up. I cannot find any conversion software which works. The player is a 2 inch, 2G + 2G mini SD card model and can be seen at WWW.ebest24.co.uk in their MP4 section. Any help would be gratefully received as ebest24 are slow to respond and it is driving me mad!! Regards, Grahame |
I understand the desire to get it for free when converting, I really do. But you often get what you pay for. I had a horrid time using AVconverter (in all it's versions) on my work laptop. Compression looked bad, video never right, and so on.
Using my Mac at home, I had no issues, as I have a decent converter that I purchased. But I wanted to find a better option for the PC. Preferably one that could be used on both platforms. So I tried the one from here: http://www.mp4converter.net/ Available for both PC and OS X. Works like a champ. I just chose a custom setting, entered the parameters my player needed (bitrates, fps, size, etc.) and it worked the first time. Granted, I was looking for something that could handle several different formats for various players and computer devices, so I needed something more than a basic converter. You can get a free trial to see if you need something that has more bells and whistles. I'm not telling anyone to stop doing what they are doing, nor am I making a penny from my personal recommendation. I just wanted to put an alternative out there for folks who are having issues with this particula bit of software. I've also had success using some of the graphical front ends that use the ffmpeg code for conversions. Haven't had a sync issue with any of them. |
Re: AVIConverter.ini file posted by Grindathotte-Help !!
I would buy converter software if I could find one that will do the job. The player plays .avi but I have downloaded and tried many converters - free and trial - and I can't find one that will do the job. Some require you to choose from a variety of options when you either don't know for certain what the format you want is or you can't fathom out how to enter it, others force a fixed ratio, eg: Super won't let me enter a size of 176x220 (it changes it to 176x224). The test video on my player shows 176x220 and objects to anything else. Others seem to produce the right specs. but the player still won't play it.
Someone must have succeeded. The AVIConverter 4 (with the latest converter.ini as in posts above) converts to 224 width x 176 height but the test video is 176 width x 220 height. As thats the file which plays perfectly I guess it has to be that format. |
glms: understood, I wouldn't spend money not knowing if it works either. Fortunately, the one I mentioned has a demo ;-)
When I first tried to set up my players, I noticed, like you, that these players can be incredibly picky. I suspect that the ones you've made with the right size had something else incorrect, Quite possible an audio setting. One of my players wants the audio onlt as mp3, 128Kbps, 441000 setting for sampling. The other player wants "mp2" (mpga), 96Kbps, 41000. That second one would play the video from the first, but no sound. The first would play absolutely nothing formatted for the second. Maddening! To set up my converter, I played the working test piece in VLC. Using the information menu item, I noted the size, the codecs for the streams, the bitrate for each stream, the sampling for the audio, pretty much every bit of info there. When I then set up a custom profile, I plugged all those values in and let it rip. The output worked like a charm. I just tried, and I was able to create a video resolution of 176x220 using the "custom" option. If you want to give it a go, I'd be happy to answer any questions about settings on that app for you. |
Re: AVIConverter.ini file posted by Grindathotte-Help !!
Hi again,
I just wrote a log reply only to lose it somehow :( The player I have is almost the same as the one shown in the posting: "file format error" when playing .avi file I can't get video to play! The menu is the same. The only difference is in the controls. The instruction book says it plays .avi files and uses a program called AVIConverter to convert various other formats to this. The problem is that all the versions of this program I have found convert to 224x176 - portraite. My player will only accept 176x220 - landscape. I need a program which will do this and rotate the image to fit. The video file which comes ready installed has the following attributes as shown in VLC Media Info: Stream 0 Codec: XVID Language: Type: Video Resolution: 176x220 Frame rate: 18.0000 Stream 1 Codec: mpga Language: Type: Audio Channels: 2 Sample rate: 44100 Hz Bitrate: 64kb/s General Duration: 0:03:30 Meta-information Setting: HAS_INDEX IS_INTERLEAVED TRUST_CKTYPE (that's how it's written) When I convert a file using MP4 converter the following info is shown using Windows Properties Summary: Width 176 Height 220 Audio Biterate 64kbs Audio format MPEG Layer - 3 Video frame rate 18 Data rate 62kbps Video sample size 24 bit Video compression XVID The picture is not rotated to landscape. The file does not play, giving a "file format error". The video supplied with the player has the same figures except: The Audeo format is MPEG Level 2 The Video data rate is 104kbps The video sample size is 12 bit. The picture is in landscape format. If you coulld give me any help regarding this I would be most grateful. Regards, glms |
Re: AVIConverter.ini file posted by Grindathotte-Help !!
Hi All,
The problem has been solved. The software that will do the job can be found at: http://www.smelektrindo.com/firmware...rt%20Setup.exe This is not the AVIConverter you may have tried so don't dismiss this! Thank you to the authur. glms |
glms,
with respect, the problem was solved with the software I mentioned, but as it isn't free, it was dismissed by those in this thread. It supports custom size, framerate, rotation, bitrate, and yes, mp2. Point is, there are tons of applications that can create a properly formatted .avi file. Just most of them the author would like to see some money for their work. Kind of like most of us, I suspect ;-) |
Re: AVIConverter.ini file posted by Grindathotte-Help !!
Hi, I also have a problem with AVIConverter, the Converter.ini and the sound synchronisation.
The problem is that if I use PAL_Normal, PAL_Low oder PAL_High setting, which means 24 fps, the sound and the picture are not synchronous any more. But it is not a constant delay or somthing. The longer the video takes, the more the sound is behind the pictures. E.g. at the beginning there is no delay, but after about 5 minutes there is a delay of 3-4 seconds. I tried it with the -delay option, but the problem stayed. The only thing changed was that at the beginning there is delay of the picture, at a certain point they are synchronous and then the sound is delayed again. What can I do against this? I also watched the converted video on my PC, but there was no delay at all. Even if I use one of the 20 fps options, there are also no sound problems. |
Can anyone tell me where i can download aviconverter 4.0 and pal ini file?
thankssssssssss edit: found it. |
