Default [solved] Can't get it to player .AMV videos

So i recently brought this mp4 player

Click the image to open in full size.

My problem being, i haven't a clue what version it , so i have not got a clue on what firmware to upgrade with, the only reason i want to upgrade the firm ware is because no matter what i do i cannot get it to play AMV formatted video.

If anyone could shed some light on this, it would be very appreciated!!!!!

shaddam,

First of all.. and i'll always say this.. NEVER update the firmware on a working player. It doesn't need it and it's never a problem unless you get the 'hour glass of death' so forget updating the firmware buddy.

Next: Your problem is very clear.. your player is a 'Rockchip' player. They play .avi not .amv.

You need the AVI converter to play videos. and it should be on the install disc that came with your player. If not there should be a copy to download in the Tools section of the downloads here.

Default Re: small question

fair enough then, well i only got a small piece of paper with it, which linked my to the mp4 utils 4.00 which as you know comes with only the amv video tool , so i take it just a standard avi converter then should do the trick!

Hey!
That's basically the same one I have. Love it!
I knew the problem before I even scrolled down past the picture. Solid little player there.

yes i am very impressed with this little player, before i would used symbian powered OS'ed phones (common on nokia's such as 6630 or n-series like then n93) and a software that played avis at 320*240 and it was great, until the phone broke, have not been able to replace it since and the mp4 was a great alternative.
