Just to reiterate Daremos' posts above, please see via the link below, a post I wrote at another forum showing which settings seem to work with both 224x174 and 320x240 res Rockchip players. I am not sure about those which require rotation though, as I don't have such a player...

http://www.mp4nation.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=296

When I get time, I will post this properly on this forum ( I though I already had, but couldn't find it!!)

Please note, ViDrop is rapidly becoming a fantastic 'freeware' partner for your Rockchip (please can someone post a ViDrop link?).

iixorbiusii: Below are the links to the viDrop discussion thread and to v0.53 download as you requested...

http://users2.titanichost.com/lokste...53-install.exe

teelecki: Try converting with a different file. Occasionally I've run into a file format that won't convert. You may be trying one of those.

To test viDrop, download a YouTube flv file and try converting it with viDrop. It should work; I've converted hundreds of files successfully.

To make sure the aspect ratio of the converted file is correct, copy and paste the appropriate commands below in to the Extra Mencoder Parameters box on the Advanced Settings tab page. Also, in the audio codec portion of this page make sure mp2 is selected. Rockchips won't play video files with mp3 audio.

for 320x240:

-vf-add scale=320:240 -vf-add expand=320:240:-1:-1:1

for 224x176:

-vf-add scale=224:176 -vf-add expand=224:176:-1:-1:1

for 160x120:

-vf-add scale=160:120 -vf-add expand=160:120:-1:-1:1

Hi, sorry to string out the same problem again but I have a Rockwell chip 2g MP4 Player (yup, from Ebay) looks like the one in the pic but different button cover, and as with other people the sample files play perfectly (Oriental girl surrounded with flowers) but any file I upload to it brings about a "file format error". I am hoping it is due to the rotation problem mentioned in earlier posts, I have tried the link posted earlier to the "AVIConverter_220x176_EN Smart%20Setup.exe" but that doesn't appear to link to anything resembling what I think I need. If anyone did manage to find that "special" converter can they either get in touch and send a copy or let me know where to find my own copy....Thanks

Hi StompR,

Welcome to the board.

Two alternative video converting software you can are:

viDrop - free open-source converter for RockChip players

and

MPxConverter (Sunplus, Actions) v0.9 Win32

The most important thing you have to remember is you need to make the video height by width size CORRECT so it plays on your player. Any other size, you will get the "format error" message.
