2 hour movies in 128MB for Meizu?

I was watching the attached video by the marketing director at Meizu in which he says that a 2 hour movie should take about 128 MB. I'm ordering M6s for me and the wife and in experimenting I can't get them compressed to 128MB. Does the M6 come with conversion software? Hmmm.

The Meizu does come with it's own conversion software which is a customized version of VirtualDub but there are better alternatives. I don't know where he gets 1MB per minute from, depending on your settings, frame rate, video\audio bitrate etc you would be looking at more like 3-4MB per minute. 1MB per minute would be pretty crappy quality even on a 2.4 inch screen.

Nop , He wasnt wrong , 1MB per minunite is possible but you gotta know how... Ill show you...

Grab a DVD from your shelf.
Download CLONEDVDMOBILE for your pc and rip it with the highest quality settings...(Takes about half an hour) You can prob fine a torrent.

Then download IRIVERTER(free) and get the M6 profile... somwhere on meizume is the M6 profile... Choose the lowest quality settings and if you can , Use two pass encoding (Better quality but takes longer).

The video quality is alright , better than youtube
but not as good as DVD quality. you can get just under a meg a minunite (86 MB for a 1:29 film)

Interesting. I already have CloneDvdMobile that I use with my Archos AV700 and I just downloaded IRIVERTER and the M6 profile, so I'll try this soon. What profile do you use in CloneDvdMobile?

Hmm well erm , I swear it looked better on the M6.... Did you use two pass encoding?

You have to remeber the M6 has a lower resoloution on a smaller space so the image would be smaller than that and look better.

Still , you can see its possible.

PDS there is a specific profile for the M6 for clonedvdmobile , google it or head to meizume.com

"1 MB per Minute" - that's ridiculous. Try BatMan converter with Q0 profile and you get exactly 1 Mb/min. It looks ... ridiculous - in fact that's why I named that profile "ridiculous" ;-)
In fullscreen it's worse than youtube videos actually. And my test already included all the tricks like 2-pass encoding, very low audio bitrate, denoise filter and even reduction of details in dark areas for better compressability. I say NO WAY.
What this "marketing manager" from Dane Elec says is just Bullsh1t. In addition, Dane Elec ist just a Meizu reseller, they had nothing to do with the development.
Acceptable video quality begins with 250 kbs, that's BatMan's Q3 (Medium) profile which produces ~3 MB/min. Anims start to look good from 150 kbps on since they compress better, but that's common lore. The Dane Elec guy was talking about movies.
tada1's post shows the differences very well.
My 5 cts.

I would like to contradict that. The screenshots he posted have the same resolution as the Meizu screen. Why should the crap look better if the pixel size is smaller ?

Nice to see you here BobbyQ... you surely will be a great contributor!! :)
