Default [solved] File errors

I'm having a problem with an MP4 I bought from ebay: (here)

Click the image to open in full size.

The included sample file worked perfectly but using the provided software I could not get anything other than 'File Error' displayed on the screen, and in my infinite stupidity formatted the player in the hope it would somehow fix the problem, only to find the problem remains and my one working sample is not there to check details such as screen resolution etc.

The conversion software is MP3 player utilities 4.05, I have tried adjusting the resolution (selectable between 160x120 up to 208x176), the quality options, the orientation of the picture and also video synchronisation. I have had a number of other MP4 players (1.5" 'nano' style, and others) working using other conversion software, earlier versions of this, but cannot get videos converted with other versions to run on this particular player either.

All the converted videos I have tried have played on the supplied AMV player, just not on the MP4 player its self.

This is really puzzling me and I would be grateful if anyone could help.

Thanks,
Paul

pyromaniac303,

Have you tried an .AVI video instead? You might have a different chipset player. You might have a Rockchip player (which plays .avi) and not an ACTIONS player (which plays .amv).

Go into the [Settings] in your player and see if you can find a firmware version. It will tell you straight away what type of chipset you have.

Then it's a matter of getting the right converter for it.

I had problems with File Format errors on my first chipod. It turned out to be hacked. Try formatting it using instructions found on this thread: http://www.mympxplayer.org/how-to-re...ck-vt2400.html

Formatting seems to have fixed the problem, I was pretty sure it was hacked but it wasnt a bad price even for a 1gb player, the screen quality is excellent and now it does play .amv files.

I might try to also get some money back from the seller as he still claimed it was 8gb.

My old 512mb nano clone can now be turned into a video playing christmas or birthday card, like I did with the last one (plays a video I have made on opening and/or pressing a button)

Hi,

You should definitely do a proper 'reformat' of your previously hacked player. And you really should try and let Ebay know you've been conned, as they have once again let someone get away with ripping off the public :x

A member called 'Lattesurf' wrote an excellent guide on reformatting, found here:
http://www.mympxplayer.org/how-to-re...+hacked+player

It's important to do this, as your player may freeze indefinitely.
I also bought a player like your one - I knew it would be hacked, but i was curious about the design / Nokia changeable battery.

After carrying out the proper re-format, it dropped from '2GB' to it's proper 1GB size.

The TFT is very bright and vibrant, as as such, I use it as a pocket image viewer (I have no interest in its AMV format capabilities as I am a true Rockchip convert!!).

On the audio front, I've noticed there's quite a lot of 'digital noise' - especially when the song title is scrolling.

Good luck!!

File a dispute through Paypal. If the seller wants you to ship it back at YOUR cost, don't do it. You'll never see the money or another player. If he won't give you a full refund and you want to keep the player, I suggest compromising with a partial refund. Make sure to sign the Petition against scammers on the main page of this forum.
