I have a problem with the time index yes.
Synchronization is fine but the players in both my mp4player and in windows think the converted files are 30+ minutes long (while in fact they're only 3m long). This does make it very hard to scroll through a file, as the moment i want to skip forward it does so for 5 minutes (which is outside the video's range)

any input on this will be greatly appreciated! (So far i love the converter)

Try again with the "Motion Search Precision" set to Zero instead of Six.

Not sure if that answer was meant for me so i tried it anyway
No succes: the file has shrunk somewhat but is still 26m long according to the computer- and mp4player. (instead of 3m)

Dear Lokster,

I've tried converter 0.55 not only for my Rockchip AUM player, but also with general resolutions, and it worked very well. A wonderful software!

Unfortunately I've found a problem with sound. It appears to be connected with MP2 only. THERE IS NO SOUND in the converted movie. at the same time MP3 and "copy" modes work fine. I have installed also the old version 0.3. It does not have this problem. Thus, it is a certain bug.

Another problem which I have seen few times is as follows. After the converter finishes the task, following an attempt to open the produced file, a window of the AVI Chunk Player Viewer appears announcing that
"This avi file was not prepared for sequential reading ..."
I close the window twice, then the playback starts. Note that the preview function works well.

Has anybody else these problems?

Thanks.

One more bug.

When ripping DVD I consistently obtain avi files with wrong aspect ratio. In particular, ripping a DVD for my COWON A3 (I have a Rockchip AUM player as well) I get from
the original resolution 852x480
the resolution 800x534
instead of the right 800x451.

I've got the reason: strangely the program (mencoder?) reads the resolution of the DVD Vob file as 720x480 instead of the correct 852x480 (that is the resolution reported by the Classik Media Player)..
Taking this wrong resolution 720x480 exactly obtain the above 800x534.

Addition to my two previous posts (see close above).

To the first post:
The same "not prepared for sequential reading" problem appears with flv files. There is no such a problem with the 0.3 version.

To the second post:
The same resolution problem appears with many (not all) MKV x264 movies. It looks like the converter does not accept the frame width larger than 720 and simply replaces it by 720.

Dear ariel56,

your problems without sound in converted videos maybe solved by replacing the mencoder.exe by an older version of mencoder.exe in the installationfolder of viDrop 0.55. This replacement has worked well on my PC: viDrop 0.55 produces now perfect videos with mp2-audio inside.

Thanks lca77,

I don't think that is the problem, since version 0.3 doesn't have any problems with MP2 (it has others, for it is an older version), though it is based on the same mencoder version. It is a certain bug. Nevertheless I'll try older mencoder version.

Once more:
1. the resulting video files are "not prepared for sequential reading" if the output audio track is MP2.
2. The source resolution is read wrong for some VOB or MKV files. It seems that the program replaces the source frame width with 720, if the frames are wider than it. As a result the aspect ratio is invalid.

Thanks Ica77,

I was wrong: the 0.3 version is indeed based on the earlier version of mencoder. I've replaced the mencoder in the distribution of 0.55 by the mencoder version from 0.3, which is dated August 2006. The issues with MP2 are indeed resolved. The issue with the resolution persists.

Mencoder wrongly reads the source aspect ratio of many VOB and MKV files.

I think that Lokster can resolve the problem adding the option of resizing without preserving the ratio. The new exact size is to be custom. That option works fine with CloneDVD Mobile, though it is also based on Mencoder and fails in evaluating the right aspect ratio.

As for the MP2 bug, I suspect that the codec configuration file is outdated. At least it is what appears in the Mencoder window when the new version of mencoder is used. Moreover, GOM player reads the output file with good sound, while other players are silent. GOM player is based on Mplayer, the mencoder brother, and comes with its own codecs.
