Dear plazma,

most RockChip-Converter uses the Codec "xvid" and FourCC-Codec "XVID", which is encoding with 12bit only. You may see this in the file-details of an converted video on a windows-PC. But if you are using the combination of "MPEG4"-Codec and FourCC-"OpenDivX"-codec, you will get 24bit encoded AVI-videos. These results are indeed much bigger than 12bit encoded xvid-videos. rgrds, lca77

Hi makd511:

To up the volume go to the advanced settings tabbed page then check the normalize box in the middle on the left and move the slider to the right ... I usually convert with the setting at 0.6 ... if you find that distortion is creeping in then back it down ... 0.25 is the default setting with no volume boost nor diminish ...

Also, I always convert at audio bitrate 128 kps joint-stereo and 300 kps video at 24 fps ... even if playing on to my tv via player hook up ... video at 300 kps seems to work fine at 320x240 ... enough detail and reasonable file size ... approx 200MB per hour ... I find this gives good video and that the nicer audio track is worth it ...

I've done hundreds of conversions and lots of settings comparisons over the last couple of years ... to check for yourself, encode a couple of minutes at different settings to compare ...

@jp

I think because of the powerful Rockchip CPU, big hard drive and ability to insert MicroSD cards
you should to choose better quality!
Later I'll find out the biggest bitrate without any freezes on player and will tell you.
My player's CPU is RK2608A.
But don't like touchscreen, that's why happy with 7 buttons! :wink:

thanks for that, i am using vidrop to convert DVD to 480x272 res for a 4.3" screen player, i like 512kbps on this size player as anyhting lower is to blocky and it also keeps files sizes down as well, audio i use is 96, again this keeps size down and also helps cut out the sync problems on many of these new player and old ones, and even on these new 27 series rockchips that so arrogantly claim to PLAY ANYTHING!!!!

Does anyone have a problem that vidrop does not play well with aero? I keep having a message that some elements do not work with it and it keep swapping to aero basic for a while. Using vista business sp1.

@lokster
After a small research and some help from other people ( http://img509.imageshack.us/img509/631/77896608uo5.jpg )
I've found out why the bitrate is not the same.

This problem appear because you have accidentally deleted some of important information
with a big amount of unnecessary to reduce the size of viDrop. :shock:

After I've replaced viDrop's MPlayer.exe and MEncoder.exe (5Mb each)
with original MPlayer.exe and MEncoder.exe (10Mb Each), the problem has gone! :P

So, when you will create the next version (with fixed color subtitles, hope)
please run through the code of viDrop! :P

@princesschio, thanks for the info. I found that these versions work better with viDrop, and fix the problem with subtitle colors. I will use these versions in the next update.
