first post aswell so I'll start by saying, awesome program thanks alot.

but since I downloaded the 0.57.2 version, it won't convert anything...
When I press the convert button, all it does is close the vidrop windows, open the black command box then close it and I'm back at the vidrop windows, all this in a second. what is wrong with that version. It never did that with the previous versions.

Thanks for your help

And the last question is about Subtitles. Im from Poland and I need polish signs like ę,ą etc. There are many encoding types (iso....). Which type should I choose to see subtitles properly.
Greetings tommek82!
Try iso-8859-2(don't be afraid, Google doesn't bite...).

Best regards.

....
I had the same issue after I upgraded ViDrop, installing the new version OVER the old one. It was resolved after I DELETED the directory and performed a clean install.

I have another problem: version 0.57.2 inserts subs TWICE, producing dirty unreadable subs. So I used 0.56.2 without these problems. Has anybody the same problems with 0.57 and 0.57.1? Maybe it is better to go to them?

There is a little minor bug in version 0.57.2, when using 2 pass encoding, after the first pass is over, viDrop opens, usualy it stays close until 2nd pass ends.

And I have a question:
Is it possible when ripping DVD to put more than one audio stream or subtitle with the matroska format.

Hi,I've used this tool to convert a divx for my magnex dts 2600player.
I use the feature that allow to convert only e piece of film (becouse when I exit the video-play function and after I re-enter in this function the film start from the beginning).
I only add at the default setting named PAL rockchip 320x240 hight the value of 0.48 under normalize slide of settings to get more volume.
When I play on my player the produced subFilm the audio come very late...
What setting I have to use?

Here is a question for Lokster (or anybody else who can fix the trouble). I think viDrop is the best thing since movies were invented, I use it for everything.

But, I've noticed that when I play a movie on my 32 inch HD television, the diagonal lines are jagged instead of smooth, indicating that the resize algorithm is too crude.

Can a future version add an option to specify the scaling quality? Is there a way to bypass the resizing for now, and specify it yourself on the command line?

I know viDrop is meant for portable devices where this kind of artifact wouldn't be visible, but there's no reason not to use it for everything, is there?

Edit: After upgrading to v.57.2 some things don't work the same anymore. I want to go back to 56 but this isn't so simple. I added the Windows Essentials codec pack which allows for decoding of more functions, so now I can't tell which files are ok to delete.

Another really necessary thing that is missing is deinterlacing. I can do this myself by adding -vf yadif=1 to the mplayer command line but I don't know if this is doing the best job or not.

Hello everyone!

I just got my first mp5 player today, a Diel Rhapsody for those familiar with the brand... The manufacturer claims that the screen is 320x240, but after a bit of a testing I found out it's actually 400x240 and I even got videos working in it with that resolution, pretty nicely even.

First of all I'd like to thank the creator of ViDrop and this great community, reading a few threads sure helped me out in a couple of things.. And this program especially is something I couldn't now live without.
However, I am having problems with certain videos, have a look:
Click the image to open in full size.

As you can see, the original video is stupidly in 4:3 format even if it the actual image is really 16:9, which is just the way I want it. Now with the different resizing methods I can get the image either stretched wide or then I can preserve the aspect ratio but have the image surrounded by black boxes from every single direction.

So the big question is: Can I crop the image in viDrop to get the result I'm looking for? I'd love to know if it's possible since I've got many video files with this little annoying problem.

Thanks in advance, I'll be looking forwards to some answers.. Even if the answer were a strict no.

Same problem, but when playing video, push "m"(aka menu button), and menu pops up, and there you'll can select between 16:9 and 4:3, it should help
