By the picture you posted your player is 320x240.
This is all you need to put in your viDrop... and sound mp2 of 128.
that will work for you.

I really don't understand what's your problem

Re: viDrop - free open-source converter for RockChip players

Dear ajsmicko,

did your player come with a well running video in his flashram ? Could you examine it with Gspot or another video-analyzing program ?

The next generation of mp4-Players with Rockchip-Chipsets RK27xx are playing xvid-coded videos up until the resolution of 720x480 pixel - 320x240 or 400x240 pixel should be working too.

MP4-Players with older Chipsets RK26xxA are playing only one resolution:

rk2602a only 160x120, 15 or 18 fps
rk2606a only 224x176 (sometimes limited through Firmware into 220x176), 20 or 22 or 24 fps
rk2608a only 320x240, 24 fps
rk2610a only 320x240, 24 fps

BTW: in your first post you're writing the problem depends on the screensize of your player: the screensize is larger than 320x240. In your last post you've written the videoresolution is larger than 320x240 pixel:larger than the screensize ?? - this makes me a little bit confused too...

If you're working with the extra parameter for mencoder in viDrop, try these option only (if the resolution is really 320x240 pixel):

-vf-add expand=320:240:-1:-1:1

And do not set "Width" and "Height" higher than 320x240 (your really needed resolution) under the "Advanced Settings": these higher values unfortunately overrides the "Extra parameters" in viDrop 0.56.1 ! Even the "Resize Method" called "Do not resize" does what it means: the converted video gets the resolution of the original video...

The problem is that i can't see the whole size of the video on my MP4 player (it is OEM) !!!

lca77 1st Aug 2008 1:10 pm

Please post the width and height of your video which should be converted. Post all the values you have invoked in viDrop in a second step or post a screenshot of the "advanced Settings" in viDrop here. May this help finding the error(s) ...

All values seems to be right to convert the video into exactly 320x240 pixel without adding black borders or cutting the picture. Which size does the original video have ? Width and Height ?

If the size is lower than 320x240, vidrop must add borders to reach 320x240. If the size is bigger than 320x240, vidrop compresses the picture until 320x240 has been reached.

You could try a Width of 400 instead of 320, even in the Extra Parameter: -vf-add expand=400:240:-1:-1:1

Will this fit to the screen or will the picture be more cutted like before ?

Re: viDrop - free open-source converter for RockChip players

It says that file format is not supported

lca77 1st Aug 2008 2:50 pm

It's okay, try now a width of 224 and a height of 176 - even in "Extra parameters": -vf-add expand=224:176:-1:-1:1

Will the result fit to the screen ? Than we got it: your player looks alike as an 320x240 Pixel Player, but he only plays 224x176 (or in some small cases 220x176).

Same problem!!

lca77 1st Aug 2008 4:11 pm

Did you flashed the firmware of your mp4-player before ? Maybe it was the wrong fw-version ?

ajsmicko 1st Aug 2008 4:17 pm

I didn't do it !!

lca77 1st Aug 2008 4:34 pm

Hmm, your problem is very unusual and i'm afraid i couldn't support you any longer... is theire any chance to exchange the device by your dealer who has sold it to you ?

Yeah there is , thank you for everything

Hi thbe,

did you mean wrong characters in subtitles ? Under the tab "Advanced settings" you will find a drop-down-list named "Encoding": change the codepage theire.

Chinese subtitle?

First let me say that this program is fabulous. The subtitle embedding works nicely for my English subtitles.

I have a Chinese subtitle file (srt, in UTF-8 coding) that works for e.g. KMPlayer. I was trying to embed it, but there are several problems:

(1) the code page list does not contain UTF-8 (nor GB2312, the native Chinese coding). I could not find where this can be configured. So I converted the encoding to unicode via MS Word so I could choose that.

(2) The subtitle showed up garbled. So I supposed I needed a Chinese font. but the browser button is for *saving* the font file, not loading one. So I typed the font path (a ttf Chinese font) into the text box. The subtitle would not display at all. And it wouldn't show up even with English title. I even tried to overwrite the default font file with a new font file, but still it wouldn't show. It seems the only way to have subtitle displayed is to use the supplied font -- not a different one, not even with the same name.

So is there a way to embed a Chinese subtitle?

Thanks ...

lca77 7th Aug 2008 12:18 pm

The needed codepage must be available at Windows XP - if its not available, theres no chance to get proper subtitles ...

viDrop is using an INI-file called viDrop.ini. You better should edit the codepage and the fonttype theire:

SubFont=.\mplayer\subfont.ttf
SubCP=cp1251

Don't forget to restart viDrop after editing the ini-file!

Re: viDrop - free open-source converter for RockChip players

Thanks for replying.

I have figured this out. DONOT use unicode. Use cp936 and a Chinese font (has to be ttf, hand entered into the space), and save the setting. Convert the srt into gb2312 (MS word can do this). Restart viDrop, load the preset, load the movie and the srt. It will work.

Truly beautiful program ...

Can't find DVD

Hi All

I just dowloaded/installed vidrop (0.56.1) and tried ripping one of my dvd's. Unfortunately, the program couldn't find the dvd drive for some reason. I clicked on the dvd button and saw the "Loading" message but then it didn't seem to find the drive. If I click on the info "i" button all the info is blank. If I click on the Preview or Convert buttons I only get one or two command line windows that pop up and immediately close. I do have a number of hard drives/cd/dvd drives in my pc that may(?) be causing the problem. The drives are:
C: (hard drive)
D: (hard drive)
E: (HP recovery partition)
F: (CD/DVD RW drive)
G: (CD/DVD ROM drive)

Any ideas why I can't read from the F: & G: drives? I've tried both.

I tried searching for the answer to this question in the forum but didn't get any hits. If it has been answered before please point me in the right direction. Thx

The program sounds just like what I'm looking for but I can't open it. I have installed several versions but after I run the .exe file the programm won't open. I use windows ME

never mind. I'm using super now. but this program does sound wonderful. :P

juliejasd 1st Sep 2008 2:20 pm

I love this program!!!... it works GREAT with the video I've downloaded and converted... until I try to convert a full movie. When I try to convert, my computer freezes at about 90% complete. :( I've converted files from programs that are about a half hour long with no problems. Any idea what I can do??

juliejasd 2nd Sep 2008 7:16 am

Well I didn't figure out how to stop Vidrop from freezing, but I worked around it by converting the movie in a different converter first, to reduce the file size, then used Vidrop to get it to work on my player.

Re: viDrop - free open-source converter for RockChip players

Hi guys,

Wow amzing stuff.

Works great, but one question!

It has been mentioned before, just need a clarification.

When using vidrop for my rockchip player is it possible to convert 16:9 in such a way that the ends are not cropped?

It appears i have a generic player:

2.8" TFT LCD color touch screen Pixels: 320 x 240

Buit-in separate audio Sangxing chipmakes

Dimension: 95 x 56 x 14mm. Weight: 98g

Everything workd great, just the cropped 16:9 is annoying.
Any ideas?

Thanks.

lca77 3rd Sep 2008 11:15 am

Try a width of 320 and the height of 180 pixels under the tab of "Advanced settings". Do not forget to use these term

-vf-add expand=320:240:-1:-1:1

as an "Extra parameters" for "mencoder" or the result maybe not playable on your MP4 without this additional parameter - especially on RK2608A based mp4-players. rgrds, lca77

Thank you very much this is a fanstastic software it works great for my generic rockchip mini mp4 player.

However, it seems like this converter doesnt support rmvb files? i can't convert any rmvb files into avi is this a bug or is rm files simply not included?

thanks

Re: viDrop - free open-source converter for RockChip players

Hi, I have a SuperTalent Vidego28 which is uses the rockchip 2608a chip. It is a 2.8 inch 320x240 player. I always run into the problem of video lagging behind the audio. It starts out synched, but slowly comes out of sync. By the end of a 1 hour show, it is off by 3-4 seconds.

I've tried many options, always with the same result. Is it possible that the problem is with the source files? I have been testing with an mpeg downloaded from my tivo. It plays fine on the PC. When I convert to AVI with any converter that I have tried, they play fine on the PC, too, but slowly go out of sync on the player.

Any ideas? i have tried the "-speed 0.96" option, I have tried 20, 22, 24 fps. Nothing seems to help.

thanks!

forgot to mention, If I ff or rw a few seconds, the audio resyncs, then slowly goes out of sync.

Hi jangelj,

which values of audio- and videobitrates are you using ?

Please try the following values and post your results/opinions after testing:

SRate=44100
VideoBitrate=400
AudioBitrate=128
MotionEst=4
CmdLine=-speed 0.96 -vf-add expand=320:240:-1:-1:1
FPS=24

These are the values I've written for the "50 new presets for vidrop: PAL Rockchip 320x240 high.ini" - you could find them under "Downloads/Tools. rgrds, lca77

I tried those exact settings on 2 different source files. The first is an mpeg that i pulled from my Tivo, the second is an episode of Hopkins (avi) that I downloaded. Both still slowly lose sync with the audio. Maybe it is the player.

Does anyone have a way for me to download a video that they have successfully played on their Rockchip 2608 player that they KNOW has good audio? I'd love to test a known good file to see if it is the player or not.

Thanks,
John

It is the player's fault, probably is CCC(cheep Chinese crap) class.
Try to decrease the Video BitRate to 250 and keep the same fps as the original. If you still experience desyncs then forget about it, buy another device or get use to stopping the video from time to time to regain the sync.
Another advice is to split the movie in 20-30 minutes episodes(yes, I know, you have to work extra to enjoy your device...) Fast Avi MPEG Splitter does a fairly decent job in this respect, cuts without compression but may occasionally add some desync...

Best regards

Hi folks,

This is my 1st post here.

This is one tough Site to download from ... I have tried and tried downloading the viDrop 0.55 but no luck ... I keep going around in a BIG LOOP!

What am I doing wrong!?!?

Can someone post a good download link!

Thanks,

G!:)

gonwk 21st Sep 2008 5:45 pm

Hi folks,

I hate to post this ... but seems that viDrop might have SPYWARE in it. See below URL
http://spywarefiles.prevx.com/RRGDIC...IDROP.EXE.html

And the download site goes to a Russian Site ...

What gives!

G! :evil:

lca77 22nd Sep 2008 6:06 am

Download the spywarefree version from mympxplayer.org. You will find it under Downloads/Tools. Do not use any other uncertificated download-location!

"The most common objects with the name of VIDROP.EXE have yet to be classified as safe by our research department." - thats what Prevx written too on the linked site. Don't believe only one oppinion, ask your doctor too ...

I've downloaded viDrop 0.55 a few seconds before without running into any trouble. Klick on "Download File" beneath "Mirrors" and the download should begin in a few seconds...

I have a problem with ViDrop program. I have an OEM 2.8" touch screen mp4 player, now when i want to convert movies my converted movies are lager than 320x24o (it should be 320x240) and i cant see whole size of video on my mp4, but if i convert the same video with another converter it is all normal and video is 320x240. Please help !!

Hi folks,

@ lca77 ... THANKS for encouraging words ... I feel a tad better and safe that this site might not be a front for "Spyware" spread. You know I must have looked for hours on this Forum for the "Download Button" to download ... I did not realize that it is Stuck way down below ... maybe the SITE ADMIN can add a pointer or something on it or make it a little more Visible instead of WASHED BLUE color. Anyway ... Thanks!

@ ajsmicko ... What is the other "Converter" that you used that it was succesful. Name of it and is it a Freeware!?!?

Thanks,

G!:)
