Warning! I have a BUG!!!
|
Re: viDrop - free open-source converter for RockChip players
And another bug (but much more BIGGER):
All my videos converted with viDrop (the newest v0.55 version) are with very bad quality (but I've set 'High' in the Settings), don't recognized by my Rockchip RK2608, haven't any sound, and lasts 17 hours! (If unconverted video's length was two minutes, then, after converting, my converted video's animation will lasts two minutes like in original, and then for 16 hours 58 minutes I will see the black screen) I have the newest K-Lite Mega Codec Pack installed, so it's not because of my broken codecs. |
Re: viDrop - free open-source converter for RockChip players
And I was converting in "General Rockchip 320x240 high" profile
without any changes made! |

And check your PM @lilo_goki - use the latest version - there are many improvements. From: http://mympxplayer.org/tool-vidrop-v...-pm-df980.html or http://learnfree.eu/download/vidrop/....2-install.msi |
Re: viDrop - free open-source converter for RockChip players

viDrop 0.57 is out!
Download it from MyMPxPlayer.org --> viDrop 0.57 AVI XVid Converter for MP4 players or here: http://skss.learnfree.eu/go.php?ftp:...57-install.msi |
Thanks lokster,
Is there a change log or a summary of any changes in this version? |
Re: viDrop - free open-source converter for RockChip players
Well, I will try the latest version right now! :P
Hope there will not be this UGLY bug with wrong "Generic Rockchip 320x240 high" profile like in the 0.55 version... Maybe this bug was because of DAMN Vista! Waiting for my Mac... With CrossOver just in case... |
Re: viDrop - free open-source converter for RockChip players
It works! Excellent! :P
I will make a donation to mympxplayer and then to you for excellent program! This big button at the bottom of your program is loudly asking for my click... But only after I'll earn some pocket money and take a bank account, you can see, I'm too young despite I'm studying at the university... For some fun I've set 2048kbps bitrate, and my player's video wasn't too slow, only in 1.6667 times slower! (I've made my own test) And the sound's speed was as in the original! That's because of my Rockchip RK2608. Old, but Mad! |
Re: viDrop - free open-source converter for RockChip players
I lost track of the changes I made... mostly fixing bugs. The only new option is the changeable subtitle color (I think...).
|
it doesnt start when i double click on the icon.
|
Re: viDrop - free open-source converter for RockChip players
I have some ideas
how to improve this program, but I will post them later... :? |
@WIZARD your ideas are wellcome!
Everyone is free to share his/her ideas, and maybe I will implement them in future versions. :) |
Re: viDrop - free open-source converter for RockChip players
Because I use vidrop to convert anime for watching on my Zen player, it would be nice to be able to convert an entire folder with the same settings at one time, rather than having to add 12 different files and clicking add to list.

Please check if video/audio delay is noticeable when you play the converted video in any media player from your computer. If there is NO delay that means your MP4 player is CCC(Cheap Chinese Crap) class...in which case you can only budget for a new (and better)player... I use ViDrop on a daily base to convert MPEG1/MPEG2/AVI to XviD .avi and I never had any a/v desync. HTH Best regards. |

Maybe the audio is disabled...provide a printscreen with the second tab OR in the first one, in the left lower part press "Add" and then copy the script that is been generated below and give us a copy. We'll take it from here... Regards. |

Man you are doing a really great job, God knows that I use ViDrop every day and I think it would be a great ideea to maintain the first post from the first page of this thread updated with the link to the latest version... Best regards. |
Re: viDrop - free open-source converter for RockChip players
Hi!
First i want to say thank you for that great program. When i convert movies with subtitles, skandinavian letters ä (Ä), ö (Ö) and å (Å) will show up as a some russian letters or something. Is that possible to be fixed to the next version? |
@Zido
The problem is that by default, vidrop is setup to use cyrillic text encoding (cp1251) for the subtitles, while the Scandinavian letters are in ISO-8859-1 encoding. Try setting the "Encoding" parameter in "Advanced settings" -> "Subtitles" to ISO-8859-1. This should work. |
hi lokster
just tried to convert Rock School DVD with vidrop, unfortunately i was unable to select a language from the list as none appeared, so my vid was in the wrong language do you know why i was unable to see a list of available languages and is there a fix cheers, great program BTW and over on mp4nation this is the one that we reccomened to all new users wanting to convert video, is there a full user guide on how to convert vids from DVD available at all, i may have missed it, so sorry about that, but the more basic it is the better, if not i think i will do one but need to ensure things like the DVD languages available will appear for selection many thanks |
@makd511
This is strange... Does this happen with other DVDs, or just with one specific? Btw, there is no user guide for viDrop... Maybe someday... :) |

cheers, will let you know how the next convert from DVD goes |

I very high appreciate your work and your program. Actually it is the main converter I use for MP4 players and format conversions as well. It is better than many costly programs. I have downloaded the 0.57 version from this forum. Another link listed above does not work. The browser just writes that I have no permission. The installed version informs me that there is an update, 0.57.1, but does not succeed to download it. Obviously the reason is the same. I also do not succeed to enter your home page, http://skss.learnfree.eu/, to download the new version - surely, no permission. Could you please give a working link to download new versions of your program? Also a correction of the update option would be highly appreciated. Thank you very much. |
Re: viDrop - free open-source converter for RockChip players
After a bit of digging, link to 0.57.1 ---

Re: viDrop - free open-source converter for RockChip players
Hi princesschio
To add several files at once, checkmark the "auto add to batch box" just down from the green add file bar on the left side of the main settings page ... then set conversion parameters on the main and advanced settings tabbed pages ... finally select the group of files you wish to convert and drop them on the green bar ... the files will be automatically added ... will take a bit of time as the program adds the first then the second, etc. but all will be added using your settings ... If you want to add files to be converted using different settings, change them as above before dragging and dropping the new file or batch ... jp PS Thanks for the link to v.57.1 ... I couldn't download it either |
Re: viDrop - free open-source converter for RockChip players
If my ideas are welcome...
 First of all, the color change for subtitles doesn't work. You can select the color what you want, but after converting you'll see that it's white. Color change is very important feature! For example, if your video mainly have dark colors, then you will be able to change the subtitle's color from white to violet, and they will not be so annoying. Secondly, I can't change a profile or add a new one for my needs. That means I must change settings after every launch. Thirdly, I've tried to find out the real bitrate of converted video using the latest version of GSpot: and it's different from I've set before converting! I think that it's will not be hard to fix 1 and 2, so please do them first. 3 is more difficult, but it's possible. Notice that bitrate's difference isn't too big, at max ~10%. And it was only with video's picture, the sound is right. P.S. Before I wanted you to be focused on the main fuctions of the program, so don't wanted to post my ideas earlier. But if there are no bugs with them, the extras are welcome! |
Re: viDrop - free open-source converter for RockChip players
Thank you for the help jp, been doing it the hard way and adding them manually
|
- Yes, subtitle color strangely does not work at the moment... I will try to fix it.
- the preset loading/saving however, works perfectly fine. Just select a preset from the list, and it will be loaded. If you want to add a new one, setup your settings, enter a new name for the preset, and then press "Save". A new preset with the selected name will be created. - as for the bitrate - it can never be absolutely equal to the one you have entered. This is not a problem of viDrop. It's a problem with mencoder (the command line video conversion tool that viDrop uses as a back-end). There is no way I can fix this. --- Edit: The auto uprate option is broken for a long time... This is a stupid problem with my hosting provider. I just can't afford a better hosting plan. Yes, the problem is financial. And this is why the development of viDrop is almost stopped at the moment. Sorry. :( |
can you get mympx web site admin to host the application for you or i have my own server, i can host it for you, what would you need, i can give you an ftp account and a space for a basic site
let me know |
I will be glad if someone can provide me a hosting for viDrop :) :)
For the update to work, the files must be accesiible directly via http (without redirects etc...). On the same address there must be a simple plain text file named update.php (it's not a script, just plain text). It just contains something like this: 0.57.1 20090205 3904093043 Thats all |
can you pm me on this lockster and we will get it sorted - cheers
|
Hi lokster,
I would be more than happy to host viDrop for you, that's perfectly fine. I'm already hosting the other versions here on MyMPxPlayer.org anyway! :) I'll also make a donation as well. I'll PM you with details. |
howo i download the tool? i go to the page but where do i click?i am desperate because i dont know how to download the tool.please help.
|
how do i download version 0.57?where do i click?

For audio-out-of-sync problems, try to add
-audio-preload 0.8 -delay 0.1 to Extra parameters -> mencoder You can change the delay value to anything you like (positive or negative) to fix the synchronization issues. The value is in seconds. --- Edit: ooops... I was reading older posts from this topic without noticing, and replied to them... Btw, the latest viDrop can be downloaded now from http://www.vidrop.vpunk.co.uk/vidrop-0.57.1-install.msi too. Thanks to makd511. |

most of the time i see out of sync errors its gradual, so at the start it will be fine then it will go out of sync some way down the line, is it not the player hardware that is the problem here, or am i missing the point .. hang on, in fact i have a situation on a certain film that this will apply to, one from DVD that when encoded using my normasl working settings is out of sync - thanks for the tip lockster |
Re: viDrop - free open-source converter for RockChip players
If the wrong bitrate is problem of MEncoder not viDrop, then... MyMPxPlayer members!
Please complain about it to: http://www.mplayerhq.hu/DOCS/HTML/en/bugreports.html Write carefully, and all you know about it! It'll help lokster to improve the viDrop! I'll do it right now! Join my forces! :!: :!: :!: |
Re: viDrop - free open-source converter for RockChip players
Is it possible to reduce the colour space in xvid?
Most players only have max 18bit (+160k colours) instead of 24bit (+16M colours). Repacking the videos with a reduced colours pace saves space and there is no need for full colour space when the display can't reproduce the colours. |
Re: viDrop - free open-source converter for RockChip players
lokster and WIZARD:
I used to be able to create new settings profiles as lokster mentioned but can no longer as WIZARD has found out ... could be due to a switch to Vista from XP rather than a version bug ... don't remember when I first noticed it ... The only workaround I've found is to copy a settings file from the presets folder and paste it outside the program file section, edit it using notepad, rename it then paste it back into the presets folder ... Vista forces me to approve the paste ... could be that the automatic Vista feature that controls the approval of installation of programs, blocks the creation of a new preset setting file ... |
