Default AMV File Sizes

Has anyone figured out how to get file sizes down on AMV movies? I've tried different configurations and settings and can't seem to get an hour and a half movie file under 300mb. I've tried running it through different programs before using the AMV converter, but have pretty much had the same results.

My AVI files on my Meizu are substantially smaller than the AMV files on my mom's player which kinda sucks because with 8gb file size isn't really an issue for me, but her player is only 2gb. I'd like to get hers where she can hold more than 5 movies of decent quality. I'm not expecting miracles, but even if I could manage a couple of more movies on there, it would be great for her.

Suggestions...ideas...solutions...anyone? 8)

maybe it wud be better for u to split the movie in pieces of 30 minutes each for easy browsing and choose low quality and a lower fps which means u wont get good quality and videos wont be as smooth but i guess thts the price for a low file size movie

Hi, yeah I could do that, but I don't need the smaller files that bad. I'm just been playing around with different conversion and configurations and am trying to figure out how to get the most out of her player.

My mom is perfectly happy with five movies with decent quality. I'm just one of those people who will play around with something trying to push it to the limit of what it is capable of and this is a puzzle I'm trying to solve.

I'm using DVD Ripper to download the DVD trying both AVI and MP4 convert. MP4 is definitely smaller, but with horrible results. I always run the AVI through Virtual Dub to clean it up and make sure there are no sync issues. Then it's on to the AMV converter.

Has anyone had better luck with a DVD download program or used something in between Virtual Dub and the AMV converter? This is my next test. Will let post the results of what I've used.
