Default .ASF videos doesn't play on QPix-01 PMP

Hi. I'm new here and I'm hoping someone can help me. I've recently bought a QPix-01 PMP with a CD that runs Sunplus Transcoder.

I have tried several times to change the videos to .ASF. It seems to work, but the videos will not run on my player. I am using a 1gb card with the DCM and MP3 folders in it.

I've tried downloading a couple of the transcoding programs from here, but they don't help.

Can anyone help?

Thank you,
raylsd

raylsd,

Are you sure your player plays .ASF videos? What I've found in the past is even though the software comes on the CD, the manufacturers generally put GENERIC CD's with the player, so it might be that your player's chipset doesn't play .ASF videos. Instead it might take .AMV or .AVI videos instead....

Do you see a SAMPLE video file that came with your player? If so, what format is that in?

You can also try downloading some sample videos from our site: Sample Videos.

raylsd , try encoding to .AVI or .3GP as these are the common video formats recognised by Sunplus.

It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.

I have to concur, however, my player is a sunplus chipset and it does play .asf's. they need to be placed in the folder where the pictures are. <root>\100media\<whatever>

Hi and thank you all for replying.

I have tried .AVI no good. I've tried .ASF no good. There was no sample video so I can only take the word of the manual that came with the PMP.

I haven't tried .3GP but then I haven't heard of that format so I don't even know where to start.

I have been putting the "transcoded" videos into the 100media file.

I think I may have got a dud!! What do you people think? Or can you think of any other solutions to the problem?

Regards,

raylsd , your screen would be a 2.4", videos encoded to 320x240.

Try these two video files and see if they play properly on your player:

25 FPS: http://www.savefile.com/files/1085132
30 FPS: http://www.savefile.com/files/1085119

Also, do you still have the original sample video that came with your player?

Hi and thanks for all your help Lattesurf.

I didn't receive a sample video with the PMP player.

The movies from the links you gave me don't work on my pmp player either.

I really think I just have bought a dud. Certainly wasted my money that's for sure.

Regards.

raylsd,

Have you tried asking the seller about this problem? Just check with them exactly what video format it should play. They should be able to tell you which should then solve half the problem .
