I found that the best way to go about using this is by coverting your video to an mpeg 1 or a vcd video file, and then using that file as your source file for the .amv output. AMV Converter seems to have trouble converting DIVX and AVI files, so it is best to use an MPEG as your source file. I have a 4GB Glacier MP4 player, and the videos I have made work perfect.

I do the same but run the mpeg1 / VCD file through VDub before converting with AMV...the original VDub version, not the MPEG 2 modded version...

With VDub I usually crop, sharpen, brighten, change video frame rate, boost audio and segment the video...this is to improve the appearance and playablility...as well as to make the audio loud enough to hear through my built in speakers without headphones...the frame rate I change to match whatever AMV output I'll be using...12fps or 16fps...

I do the same when preping my content for my rockchip player before converting to XVid...

Rather than ripping a DVD I usually play it into my computer and record in mpeg 1/vcd format ... results in less complications in terms of audio desynching and is less processor intensive as don't have to convert from VOB to mpeg1...will keep this mgeg1 file as movie about 600mb per hour at 320x240 and 29.97fps...so quite compact...then can open content in VDub and re-convert for use in other players as desired...

Also, can put file on disc and play in DVD player...good on smaller screen like 13" TV or portable DVD player...

I like mpeg1 format and similar file size to mpeg4 in my experience...
